Due To Circumstances That I Can't Control...

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can't control, we've had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here's why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it's a lot of work, I really don't mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don't even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I've been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I've never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS!! That's not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I'm super sorry that you won't get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you.

Hi Mr. Perry, I have been to every play when it came to South Carolina. If time and well being permits I am sure to be attending others. Keep doing what you do, let the haters hate and continue to be blessed.

I am so sadden to see that the show is cancelled. We support you at all endeavors and I was ready to purchase tickets for my mom as a birthday gift. With all respect, I understand your concept on cancelling because you want it to be affordable so all can come out and just have a good time. Please if you can try and adjust so that we can come see this play; especially seeing this is the last live tour. Nevertheless, The TYSON, MILLER, and GREENE FAMILY WILL continue to support and have your back!!!!

<b> With all due respect Mr Perry your reason for cancelling this tour makes absolutely no sense. I recently checked, before your post, and none of your shows were sold-out, most were far from selling out. I also looked at the secondary market and there were very few tickets listed anywhere. For example on StubHub where most popular shows will have hundreds, often thousands of tickets listed, most of your shows only had 4-20 tickets listed, basically nothing. eBay and CraigsList, the same thing, to be honest you really would not know Madea was on tour if you were basing it on ticket scalping. I am guessing that the reason the tour was canceled, in fact, was the opposite reason, lack of ticket sales. I understand, you have the Midas touch and we all have an ego, if this is in fact the reason, telling the world you are canceling Madea due to a lack of ticket sales would bruise any ego, no matter how humble that ego. What matters is that many people look up to you, for many reasons, many because they think of you as a man of God and they trust you and trust what you have to say. For whatever reason you canceled, I would respect you more if you would just be honest about that reason because there is absolutely no evidence that it was because of ticket scalping. <b>

Agreed ! I am with you 100%, I think that there is something kinda fishy here. I mean, what he is doing is letting down those of us that have already purchased tickets, like myself. There are thousands that are going to be out money, a lot of people that I have been reading have even bought plane tickets that are of course non-refundable. If it is in fact "scalpers" as Tyler has said then he is really screwing over the people that bought those tickets because they are going to be out a h*** of a lot of money. It is so frustrating ! !

Carl WHITE YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, THAT IS MY THOUGHTS AS WELL...I DID THE RESEARCH BEFORE NOW AND TICKETS SALES APPEARED TO BE LOW. THAT IS THE TRUE REASONING FOR CANCELING AND I THINK HE OVER EXTENDED HIMSELF OF TRYING TO DO TO MUCH .

I agree with Carl. I am a bit suspicious. This is the second cancellation of a tour. I am a MAJOR TP fan. I own all of the plays and movies and really rarely buy any other DVDs but his and I am not a hater. A while back, TP sent an email stating he was going to take a long break and this was the last live tour, so "get the family together and go see the show." Was this done to boost low ticket sales? The scalpers aren't the losers here, it's the fans who purchased tickets from legitimate sites (certainly far outnumbering any scalper purchases). We were looking forward to a great time. Millions of fans compared to a small number of scalpers. Actors have lost jobs, venues, tourism, people with airline tickets and hotel reservations....the list goes on.

Hi Tyler, I am very, very, hurt by your decision and I'm not along on this. So many fans were looking forward to seeing you as Madea and you just slapped us in the face. What about those that have had their tickets for months just waiting for u to show up. Don't give into these bootleggers. Only sell your tickets at your site or go directly to the box office whose entertaining the show. Do you even realize how many hearts you have broken with that one word: cancelled. Please, please, please reconsider your decision. I was so looking forward to coming to Greensboro this weekend. My life had been so stressed out and I wanted to hear some laughter and encouragement from you. So many people look forward to hearing your take on life. Your shows are like being in therapy. When I'm feeling down I pop in one of your tapes and laugh my a-- off. I have all your work and does that you give credit too as well. Please Tyler, don't let the devil win. That was one of my birthday gifts (sep 1). I hurting right now cause I don't get to see you on stage. Please, Please reconsider.

Carter, if you have an idea to get our frustrations across to Tyler then please let me know. I have tickets as well for October, I am literally crushed, I was taking my 14 year old daughter and I said to my husband just the other night that nothing in this world would keep me from going and then the next morning. . . I think that if Tyler has done this and let down everyone then maybe he is not the person that we think he is ! : (

Norma, I just read your reply and it looks like you have no clue on what they are talking about. I brought my tickets once they went on sale and regardless of how much I paid for them to cancel the last leg of the show is crazy. He is cancelling the show for a reason that he can not control but to look at it he can control cancelling the show or not. You have people that have flight tickets that they can not get their money back from. I was looking forward to seeing the play live. I have seen him live and I do have all of his movies and plays and none of them are bootlegged. I have supported Tyler Perry from day 1 but after this I have to rethink my actions. For him to be a man of God and let the Devil win in such a way is crazy. No he can't control what others have done but that is no reason to cancel the last leg of the tour. I'm not a scalper nor a bootlegger but I did want to see Madea live and since this is his last tour it was going to be great to see him up close and personal. We had seats on the 4th row and did not pay an arm and a leg to get them. So for you to say they are being negative is wrong. They are speaking out because they are disappointed just like many of his other fans. People will lose a lot of money because of this and for him to say he is cancelling because of scalpers and bootleggers well when this happens at a sporting event they do not cancel the game because of it. Think about it!!!!

I am disappointed but i understand. People have neglected to understand that just because there are bootleggers and scalpers for years and for other events does not make it right. Remember, slavery existed years ago but did the fact that it existed made it right? food for thought. If you do not stand up for something, then you will fall for anything.
