Due To Circumstances That I Can't Control...

Unfortunately, due to circumstances that I can't control, we've had to cancel this leg of the Madea Gets A Job tour.

Here's why. I set a ticket price for the show starting at $25. The reason I set the price so low is so that everyone could get a chance to come out and see the show. I know how tight things are right now. I GET IT! I do not tour to make a living, I tour because I love staying connected to all of you. I love seeing your faces, hearing you laugh and seeing you enjoy yourselves. It gives me great joy. Even though it's a lot of work, I really don't mind doing it. Because of that, what I do is make sure that the promoter sets a reasonable ticket price and the prices are $25, $45 and $65. Even though I set these prices so that they are affordable, fees are added that are out of my control and the price of the tickets can almost double. Add to that, when you go online looking for tickets, IN LOTS OF CASES, you are being led to a bootlegger and you don't even know it. There are a lot of ticket bootleggers and scalpers that buy lots of shows and sell them to the public for double, sometimes triple the price. I've been dealing with this for years but now with the internet I've never seen it this bad.

Also, there are some horrible people who are pretending to be me or representing me on Facebook and charging people money to do a meet and greet on the tour. They are telling people that they are me or working for me and charging them $150 for a meet and greet after the play.  DON'T FALL FOR THIS!! That's not me.

This is so frustrating! Why are people so evil? Why can't people just get legitimate jobs and stop trying to do the wrong thing all the time? If they put the same amount of energy into doing the right thing as they do in doing the wrong thing they could make it. It's so sad.

To all of you who have bought tickets and made plans to be there I am so sorry. I really am but my hands are tied.

This was the last live Madea tour and I'm super sorry that you won't get to see it live. All refunds should be given back to you.

Dear Tyler , Im not going to lie I was really looking forward to taken my 12 year old twins to see your play. You always have postive messages that seem to connect with everyone. Although I can understand why you are canceling ,it still troubles me because for four tickets at 65.00 each is a lot of money for me. Once we knew you were coming we save bottles and cans (lol) to pay for the tickests. This just shows hard working pepole look forward to seeing you . God Bless Andrea, Myissha and Myniseisha H.

I am really sad to hear the news that the show is canceled. I had purchased my tickets and was ready to have a fun night with a really good friend. I understand that you felt it was necessary, but sometimes it's good to see positive black role models, especially as a college aged person and an aspiring writer/someone who wants to succeed in Hollywood. Our lives are inundated with negativity and to see ourselves portrayed positively onstage is always a blessing. It is also VERY rare for African Americans to see live theater and I applaud you for always being the one who frequents urban area to grant us the opportunity. While I understand and respect your decision, I must say that I am disappointed by it. When corporate America screws up, it is often those middle and lower class that you spoke of (the reason your tickets have reduced prices) who feel the repercussion. Likewise in this case, the fans who have already gotten tickets and rearranged their schedules are the ones who suffer the most. Earlier, someone left a comment suggesting that your site link up with the correct places to purchase tickets and I think that is a fabulous idea. I have always supported you in your endeavors, even going to another city to see "Madea's Big Happy Family" live (I'm a broke college student so that point was a big deal to me) and I think everyone should have the opportunity to see you live, especially since you have previously stated that this is the last tour for a while. I don't know whether or not you will change your mind and I'm sure you have seriously considered every aspect before canceling due to your frustration over people being misled. As you have previously warned your audience, I don't feel canceling the show altogether is warranted. I almost feel as if we are being punished for others' wrongdoings. However I continue to wish you success and that you make the right choices for you.

This is just beyond sad. I wasn't able to buy my book for my math class in college because I had bought tickets to see this show. I have been watching Tyler Perry and Madea for so long. It has thought me so much and given me the strength to keep moving on. I had made plans for weeks and I was looking forward to it. I have family in Arkansas and we were going to have a family reunion the same day as the show. I am disappointed about the canceling of the tour, but I will forever be grateful for Perry's wisdom and will continue to be a fan

Whatever DECISION Tyler has made I'm sure its for the best. Might not be the best for you all or might not even feel good to him but its gonna be alright either way. What about being concerned about how this might be affecting him? His crew? His team? Etc... Everything ain't about you/you all/ yall. I'm sure it ain't the 1st time u been disappointed & won't be the last one. The best thing to do right now is GET OVER IT! At least he informed you all, he didn't have to do that. Don't take kindness for weakness. An meekness isnot weakness, its actually controlled strength. This is something he has to deal with too! If someone broke into your house robbed you etc... You called your job to tell them u couldn't make it & they go to complaining about how much they need u cause of their own personal/self reasons, how would u handle that being you just explained to them what u did? I see it this way, if the bootleggers got your money then who gonna give your money back but if u paid then u get your money back. What u tripping for????? Has anyone thought about him? I just wanna know if anyone y'all gonna die if he don't show up as Madea? And if so u might wanna check yourself. FYI! He done talked about them Leaf, branch or root. You are rooted where? Ok, get over it. :-)

I woke up this morning and got the worst news. I received your email saying that you were cancelling your tour and my heart is broken. I bought tickets to surprise my mom for her birthday. My sisters also bought tickets and we were all going to up to Orlando to see your show and make it a family night. I was soooo excited because we even got floor seats. It's horrible that people are using your name to scam these people, but on the other hand, you have warned us over and over about scams. I just don't think it is fair for people who have already bought tickets. I understand Mr. Tyler that you are sick of this, which you should be, but I wish there was another option.

I am really super sad about all of this Mr. Perry. My husband bought tickets for our 17th wedding anniversary. I had watched small parts of your movies before but not all of one at once. Until one day i had been home from alcohol and drug rehab and was having a pretty bad day and was flipping through channels and Madea Goes To jail was on. I laughed and cried so hard!! It was great!! My husband came home and i watched it again with him and we were both rolling and crying so hard!! Since then we own every movie and play that you have ever put out. I have enjoyed all of your movies that you have wrote and directed. I have been clean and sober for 19 months and coming to your play sep. 30 in Little Rock was going to be my first getaway with my husband since being clean. I hope you reconsider touring the rest of the cities at a later date before taking a break. I understand if you dont just please think about it longer. Thank you for all the laughter through tears which is the best emotion to have. And thank you for getting me through some of the roughest days and even though i give God all the glory for my sobriety youve gotten me through alot here on earth!! God Bless You!! Love you tons!!

Tyler, I have a question... Who is running the @TylerPerryNews on instagram? Were u aware that they did a 8 question ask to your fans on this evening about you & your personal information? And also they deleted it, promising a #Follow & a #shoutOut to the first ones to answer all questions correctly. Not sure if its you or not so, I knew I could ask you here. :-)

Hi Mr. Perry, I do understand your frustrations but why can't you just sell the tickets straight from your website? Or have your website redirect people to the correct/legitimate links/places that they are supposed to be in order to purchase the right tickets? It seems like there has got to be some sort of work-around. <scratching my head> I've never seen/known you to back down from/about anything before (???) As a matter of fact, the many testimonies of your determination is what has been fueling me over the past 6-yrs. And with regards to staffing such a request/suggestion, there are people like me who have been unemployed for over a year (and still seriously/genuinely want to be a part of your team and contribute to helping it grow) who would love to head a project like this. For the things that we don't know how to do but are willing and determined to learn them, it's like that mid-point in the center of a cross where paths meet/intersect just perfectly. Destiny. In all honesty, I am a bit overwhelmed by the fact that you have chosen to cancel the remainder of the tour (although I was disappointed I wouldn't get a chance to see you anyway), it saddens me to know that you would allow others to take away your love and joy so easily (but humanly, I know that it is possible) and the joy that others get from you. Would you please reconsider and remember the fans? ~ With the Warmest and Kindest Regards ever <3

Your coach, Tyler" Hmmm...that day it REALLY MEANT something to me.------- Don't make me have to dig through ALL of my old e-mails (and half of yours from the message board too!) >-p (angry face with tongue sticking out)

Then she told me it was cancelled i was very disappointed i read it had something to do with people scalping tickets. Because of a bunck of dishonest people everybody doesn't get to see to see the show.

My husband and I purchased airfare tickets from Hawaii to LA & then drive to vegas to watch your show. We're huge fans of yours & consider this a dream come true (literally) to watch Madea Live! We received our tickets in the mail last week and have been on countdown to your show in Oct. it saddens us to hear the news about the cancellation of the tour. Praying that everything will turn out for the better Tyler. God Bless!
