Guard Your Heart and Mind
If you can get this, this will change your life… I was out taking my morning run. I love how still it is when I’m running. I can hear clearly and really commune with God. I wanted to share this with you. It’s a lesson I had to learn.
One of the keys to success is to be able to guard your heart. Now, usually when someone says guard your heart they are talking about keeping yourself from heartbreak. Although that is important (as long as you don’t go overboard... but that’s another conversation) that isn’t what I’m talking about. When we are born into this world we enter with such a pure heart but as we grow older situations, circumstances and people tend to make us change. Now I know it is nearly impossible to keep a childlike innocence in our hearts all of our lives, especially after people have betrayed, lied, mistreated and downright been the devil. Trust me when I tell you, I have seen it all. I have been there big time. If you’re like me you’ve been there too. But if this is your situation I want you to know two very important things about those moments of heartbreak. Number one, learn the lesson in it. See how it will work together for your good, because it will. Once you do, it’s easier to forgive and move on. Secondly, and this is just as important as the first one, you must not let that person or people change your heart. What do I mean by that? Well, if you are a giver and someone you have given to misuses your gift, don’t stop giving… just give to someone else. If you are a person that loves people and someone you love hates you, don’t stop loving… love someone else. Eventually, you will find people who appreciate your kindness and your love. Remember this, lots of people have been conditioned to not be able to accept purity of heart. They can’t take it in. Most times it’s not even their fault. It’s just what has happened to them on their journey in life. But don’t let them turn you into one of them. There will be a lot of people in your life who will not appreciate your pureness of heart. If they hurt you don’t stop being you… just be you with someone else.
Why is this so important? Because God blesses you according to what is in your heart. If you are being kind, giving, loving and sharing because it is in your heart and you are not looking for anything in return, then that is a heart that God wants to bless. If you change who you are because you’ve been hurt, then you’ve changed the thing that God wants to bless you according to, and that is your heart. The people who hurt you are not worth that. You can lose everything that you have, but don’t let anybody change your heart.

Mr. Perry, I know you have thousands of responses to this message between here and Facebook and will probably never read this, but I just had to come here and say that I always look forward to getting your emails. I don’t “follow” many celebrities through Facebook/E-Mail, because, no offense to anyone, I don’t understand putting so much hype into a person just like me that doesn’t know me from the next guy and I personally don’t know either. I have to say though that I always look forward to reading your emails, it’s almost like getting a letter from an old friend, they are genuine, so encouraging, and so full of good advice; I love the personal anecdotes and I can really tell through your messages that you care about people in general. I really respect the fact that you are able to inspire and lift up so many people through your work and I strive to be able to do the same one day. I am so glad that you have not let negative experiences or fame change who you are because I (and so many others) think who you are is just great!!! P.S. I was bummed when you said you would be taking a break from plays, I really love them. The plays always have such an uplifting message behind them, are hilarious, and always have such amazing singers/actors. I’m even more bummed that I won’t get to see Madea get a job live. Hopefully you don’t have to take too too long of a break ;) and I’ll get to catch the next one.

Guard your Heart ...... Sir, that was such an on time word... Wow, I've always been the person that loves helping people, I've been that way since I was a kid.. I've been the saint that would open my doors for people to stay with me , so they wouldn't be homeless, but in turn they would skip out and leave just when times got a lil ruff for me. This has happened so many times, until it made me not want to be that person to help. Yea, it hurt but I got over it and like you said, just helped someone else. I'm grateful to God for giving me a heart to want to just bless folks . I missed an opportunity today to bless a homeless person I saw standing with a sign bc the light changed .. So, I turned around and went back just to put something in his hand and a God loves you sir. I felt so good after I did that. I believe one day, God is going go bless me in a big way to be a major blessing to a lot of people. I said all that to say Thank You for sharing your story, at times I thought I was the only one that felt this way. Praying for your continued success ... Derrick Db. Coleman

I assume by now you realize GOD is working through you, because your life in itself is a testimony (as if you needed me to tell you that), one in which millions of your fans including myself have acknowledged. I love...love...love this message, it speaks volumes to so many situations in life and I personally experience it all the time. Just recently I had a talk with my wife about this very same topic, and I expressed to her that I'm trying my very best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt with any situation. It's so easy to pre concieve someone based on past experiences, but I'm starting to realize that if I say I am a christian and I want to live my life according to his word then I have to not only speak but walk it as well. It certainly is a struggle sometime, but I ultimately feel that I am blessed and highly favored so god got my back and I know that if god is for you who can be against you . One last thing before I go. I use to dream about meeting you and somehow having enough charisma that you actually like me and develop a friendship (as I'm sure all your fans do), and the reason why is because I felt that If I could just be in your presence and possibly absorb some of your energy then I could create my own success. As I've gotten older I see that I don't have to be in your presence to have that I just have to keep god first...create some goals, follow through with them and stay prayed up. It would be great to still meet you in person, and if we were meant to cross paths then it will happen. -Be blessed

It is hard to guard a heart against change when never knowing the person one is supposted to be from a young age, then one deals with life's circumstances that darkens one's heart to the woulda, shoulda, could have beens.

I wanted to make a comment on the statement by Tyler Perry which read, "God blesses you according to what is in your heart." First off, I would like to know what scripture is that from. Second, I don't believe this is true that God blesses you according to what is in your heart. The Bible "clearly" states that the rain falls on the just and the unjust. So what that tells me is that just people get blessed (pure heart) and unjust people get blessed (bad heart). It is really getting out of hand with people throw out these "catchy phrases" that sound good like this one made by TP and we just say Amen because it sounds good. The truth is God decides who He wants to bless and who He does not. There are so many examples in the Bible about God blessing people who did not have good hearts. The Bible even says in Romans, God showed His greatest love in sending us Jesus while we were yet sinners." So, God sent HIS BEST IN JESUS while we quote on quote had bad hearts (sinners) We just need to be careful about giving our Amen to stuff that sounds good but it not scripture. Does God bless "sometimes" according to what is in your heart, yes. But, THAT IS NOT a condition in order to be blessed.

I really appreciate this artical. I do have a good heart & even though I have been hurt by my spouse, family, & friends more times than anyone one should have to ever suffer through; I still remain being optimistic, loving, caring, forgiving, and true! But sometimes I wonder if I should turn it all off sometimes because nobody seems to appreciate it! But my two children & GOD & maybe that's all that matters but I'm just tiered of giving love & not being loved! But I'm gonna remain paitient & wait for GOD to send me a man who deserves me & my heart :)

Purity of heart God gives us. As we start pull the Forbidden fruit from the tree of life. Our purity Of heart starts to vanish. We begin to taste from The tree of Good and Evil. The forbidden fruits Consist of deceit , anger, harming your brethren Stealing, , sexual perversion .....and the List goes on. But here is the Good news. Purity of heart can be re-establish . Just believe in the Healing power of our mighty God. He will restore you to wholeness . The taste of the forbidden fruit will cease to exist . Only the Good will Be your life. Allow God to Guard your heart. He will do a much better Job At it then we will ever do. Peace
