Guard Your Heart and Mind

If you can get this, this will change your life… I was out taking my morning run. I love how still it is when I’m running. I can hear clearly and really commune with God. I wanted to share this with you. It’s a lesson I had to learn.

One of the keys to success is to be able to guard your heart. Now, usually when someone says guard your heart they are talking about keeping yourself from heartbreak. Although that is important (as long as you don’t go overboard... but that’s another conversation) that isn’t what I’m talking about. When we are born into this world we enter with such a pure heart but as we grow older situations, circumstances and people tend to make us change. Now I know it is nearly impossible to keep a childlike innocence in our hearts all of our lives, especially after people have betrayed, lied, mistreated and downright been the devil. Trust me when I tell you, I have seen it all. I have been there big time. If you’re like me you’ve been there too. But if this is your situation I want you to know two very important things about those moments of heartbreak. Number one, learn the lesson in it. See how it will work together for your good, because it will. Once you do, it’s easier to forgive and move on. Secondly, and this is just as important as the first one, you must not let that person or people change your heart. What do I mean by that? Well, if you are a giver and someone you have given to misuses your gift, don’t stop giving… just give to someone else. If you are a person that loves people and someone you love hates you, don’t stop loving… love someone else. Eventually, you will find people who appreciate your kindness and your love. Remember this, lots of people have been conditioned to not be able to accept purity of heart. They can’t take it in. Most times it’s not even their fault. It’s just what has happened to them on their journey in life. But don’t let them turn you into one of them. There will be a lot of people in your life who will not appreciate your pureness of heart. If they hurt you don’t stop being you… just be you with someone else.

Why is this so important? Because God blesses you according to what is in your heart. If you are being kind, giving, loving and sharing because it is in your heart and you are not looking for anything in return, then that is a heart that God wants to bless. If you change who you are because you’ve been hurt, then you’ve changed the thing that God wants to bless you according to, and that is your heart. The people who hurt you are not worth that. You can lose everything that you have, but don’t let anybody change your heart.

Tyler, Your words hit home today. I needed those words today because I have found myself in those situations all too often. You are reaffirming that I should not stop giving, caring or loving just because those around me may not always reciprocate. Thank you for helping me understand that God truly blesses us for what is in our heart and only he knows our heart!

Tyler.... Its like you are living with me every time i read your messages. I know God is everywhere and He is speaking through you to me. Lately your messages have been on point in my life and I'm just... grateful. Thank you for sending out these messages. Especially the "Don't give up Dreamer." OMG. That was so on point because i was about to call it quits with my film. Its so hard to make a film when you don't have a management team. I am the team. But i know what God told me to do and as soon as i kicked back into gear, more doors started to open. And then there's this message. OMG. I love you Tyler. Cause i was one of those people who is always getting dogged and lately i was about to treat everyone like crap, but deep down inside me i can't because its not my character. Thats not my heart and i believe that is why God blesses me so much. (Sigh) So with that note, thank you. Thank you for writing your fans and telling us what is on your heart, because you never know who is going through the same thing. Love you Bro.

Tyler, That was so profound....I've been down heartbreak road a few times. And you are right on point to say...Don't stop loving...just love on someone else that appreciates you. My motto now is....I want to be with someone that celebrates me not tolerates me. When you get the feeling you are just being tolerated, move on immediately. God wants only the best for us. ~Betty

I believe in everything you said with the exception of "God blesses us according to what's in our heart" If that were the case, then we wouldn't need JESUS! Jesus is the reason God blesses us, not our behavior, not our performance. If our heart is the thermoneter, which tempeture is God comfortable att? What is the standard? NO that puts us into to works and Jesus died on the cross to break that curse cause we can never measure up. He is the fulfillment of the law. Even if we're walking in love, forgiving everyone, building orphanages, preaching in South Africa, nothing we do will measure the standards of God cause He is so holy. Somewhere in there is sin. It might only be in the heart but it's sin and God doesn't play favorites with sin like humans do. NO matter how much right we do, we all sin and fall short of His glory. That is why it is all about the kingdom of God and His righteousness. If we put our faith in HIs work on the cross we will STAY blessed.

In response to you guard your heart speech! I no easy push over! I've loved and lost and will find love again that's how I've been blessed and I forgive! I have integrity and my life and privacy and good nature are worth fighting for! I'm insulted if think your little pep rally talk is going to change the way I feel or think!, Your a m***** manipulater!!! If I were IN LOVE with you GOD HELP ME! I Loved in a healthy way creativity the good nature of your work which seemed to have a positive message! I don't know you on a personal level and I'm not star struck on anyone to spill my whole heart and soul for creative purposes without any arrangement of compensation! GET OVER YOURSERLF! I had no choice in this matter I don't know what types of technolgy is going on, but I know I'm not crazy and this has gone on for too long! I asked you in a healthy honest way to be fair and I've put my price on waht you've taken advantage of for all your movie works! You even used the likeness of my mother and my niece to further you self interest! I thought so much better of you! I know trust in GOD not in people, we do have to trust each other to some degree in order to get along on healthy terms! Stop trying to make me seem like some wimpy love sick fool, I'm far from it! When I refer to myself as a die hard romantic I won't give on the hope that it could happen! I still like your work!, You disappointed me deeply as a MAN!! I never thought you were so desparate to succeed that you would take advantage without my knowledge! So as you well know I've had heartache, disappointment, betrayed, physically hurt, emotionally distraught!!!!!!!!! I give up and pray deep and hard and always seem to find my way back to sanity! I feel like your making fun and teasing me for kicks! I'm accusing of something that is very serious and asking you to be fair. I'd like to get on with my life with peace of mind and some sense of happiness! I don't need your on line therapy sessions I've had over 10 years of therapy from professionals without a hidden agenda or something to hide! No thanks to you and people like ! I'm not a outwardly public person and don't choose to change! I like me and I'm very realistic about life and it's situations and problems that why you write and I'd rather be a nurse! Since you feel the need to explain everthing One deals with fiction and half truths and the other deals with facts and hope and faith and a sense of caring! Don't get it twisted!!!! I want my money and if you can find in youself to explain the truth of what really has happened over the last 15 or so years I'm open to hear it!!! Not the B*** you've been given all these people!!! Wish I could say I still trusted and Loved as along distant friend. OH WELL I am going to get to the truth of the matter I have to!!!!!!

I love the "Guard Your Heart" I am a woman who use to hate my heart because I forgave so much! To me, people were bless to have me in their life because I forgave them for things people would have killed them for. I have been hurt repeatedly, and haated how I never held it against any of them. I remember the times I prayed asking God to change my heart, actually I would beg him and it seem like the more I asked the more I kept forgiving. So then one day I said, "God why haven't you changed my heart?" His response was, "If I changed your heart, you will no longer be like me!" From that day, I have loved my heart like never before. I am a great person because of my heart. And with a caring, forgiving heart, you will be rewarded because you're not looking for anything in return. Trust me I'm a living witness of what God could do after all the heartache. I wrote this to say, I one hundred and fifthy percent agree with you Mr. Perry. "Don't Let People Change You For The Worse!" Keep being you, with someone eles. Have a bless day to you all!

"Guard Your Heart" was a very timely message for me and my family. We've recently lost a loved one and are in the process of dealing with "The Other Side of Heaven." While our God-fearing loved one has transitioned, we are left with the ugly aftermath to deal with. Church people acting in ungodly ways, fightin and bickering over "stuff" and unkind words that only rub salt into the deep wounds of grief. I used to think that our dearly departed loved ones ascended into Heaven to watch over us. But now I KNOW that Our Heavenly Father would not want us to look down on this mess...it's ugly, totally unreal, tragic, heart-breaking. When we go to Heaven, we are completely healed, restored and at peace...God would NOT disturb that peace with the UGLY that has been left here on earth. Peace and be Blessed!
