I Thank God For Closed Doors

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

As I look back now I’m so glad that none of those situations worked out. I’m so glad God closed those doors because they forced me to find the right path for me. If you’re in this situation and you feel like doors are closing all around you and you are frustrated, here’s something I’d like you to think about: Life can be like a living maze. You know what a maze is. In a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the finish line.

Many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. Just like life, that door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, it just means you need to go another way. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you’re going.

Another thing that is important when you’re in a maze, as in life, is to remember where you have been. If you get turned around and confused in a maze, in order to get out, you have to remember the dead-ends that you have already hit. Just like in life you have to remember all the doors that were closed so you don’t waste time going that way again. If you want to get to your dreams you can’t expect to get there by doing the same thing and going to the same spots. You must try something different. I’m not saying give up on your dream, I’m saying try another path to the same dream. Same maze, same dream, but take a different direction to get there.

I feel sorry for people who have a dream and give up because it gets hard. Let me tell you something, "IT’S GOING TO GET HARD!" And my answer to that is, "SO WHAT? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Don’t stop because a door closed. I have learned to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed, but if that one was closed I assure you that there is one that is open somewhere. And it’s the right one. Don’t stop until you are living your dream.

Is this helping anybody?

Yes it's, because, I thought about the times when I wanted to give up and I did not even though it was a small achievement it was important to me.

Thank you so much for your kind inspirational words! :] I find them to be extremely helpful and motivating. My dream since I was seven years old was to be an elementary school teacher. When I was a child I would line up my stuff animals and pretend that I was a teacher taking role. I would also read to my stuff animals and assign them homework :] Now, 14 years later I find myself in college studying in Education and working towards a preliminary credential. (I get goosebumps think that my dream will soon become my career and passion!) When I was kid none of my teachers believed that I would make it in life. Growing up with a single mother in a low income community and living from paycheck to paycheck was difficult. Regardless, of what my teachers thought of me and my abilities. I always had my mother's support!! I'm truly blessed to have her. She's my world!! I'm so passionate of being a teacher and helping other students who face similar difficulties that I once faced. I want to reach out and help them. Our education system is corrupted and many of our students are being cheated from receiving a proper education. It's time to make a difference! I strongly believe that God closes doors for a reason. He wants us to find the right path. This journey of becoming a teacher has been difficult and many doors have been closed. However, I won't stop fighting for what I believe in,and who I want to become. Thank you once again, and May God continue to bless you! Much Love, Anamartin

You have to make mid course decisions. A wise man once said, if your willing to stand forever you won't be standing long. I'm willing! I don't know how to give up.

Yes it is helping me..I now understand that bad days don't last for ever ...it's very frustrating when your money is blocked, when you feel like a trap rat, when it feels like no one can hear your pain but yourself, when it feels like all of your time and higher learning was for naught, when you wish you could do coming special for yourself but you can't, cuz you will come up short on a bill, when you can't pay back your students loans and it piles so high it seem hopeless...drowning in debt. You want to relocate, and start over but you are stuck because you have no finances with which to do so....so YES! your thread is priceless/timely ...empowering ..thank you..GREAT post.

This was right on time. Thank you. I have been through some things trying to get my show together. I agree that it is hard; but if you want it that bad it is not going to be easy to get there. Its so easy to give up but hard to fight to get where you want to be. That hard work pays off in the end. (this is what I keep telling myself) I know that God did not give me the talent of writing to be hidden and not shown to the people that need to see it. I am determined and my faith is bigger than a mustard seed. So many people have dreams that they never follow through with and I never want to be one of those people. When God gives me a vision or a story I write about it because I know that I can turn that into something to inspire someone, to give them that laugh that they may need, or even to allow them to see a message in my writings that may help them get through whatever it may be. Never give up.
