I Thank God For Closed Doors

When I wake up in the morning and see the sunrise as I’m running, I thank God for new mercies every day. As I was running this morning I started thinking about this and you know how much I like to share my morning thoughts… LOL

I was out just thinking about my life and all the times that I wished that a door had opened. All the times I had promoters and people lie to me saying that they would help me... I remember wishing the bank would approve my loan request for a house or a car (usually one I couldn’t afford at the time). I wished that this person would help me or that person would do something to help my business, or this person would help my dreams come true.

As I look back now I’m so glad that none of those situations worked out. I’m so glad God closed those doors because they forced me to find the right path for me. If you’re in this situation and you feel like doors are closing all around you and you are frustrated, here’s something I’d like you to think about: Life can be like a living maze. You know what a maze is. In a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the finish line.

Many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. Just like life, that door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen, it just means you need to go another way. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you’re going.

Another thing that is important when you’re in a maze, as in life, is to remember where you have been. If you get turned around and confused in a maze, in order to get out, you have to remember the dead-ends that you have already hit. Just like in life you have to remember all the doors that were closed so you don’t waste time going that way again. If you want to get to your dreams you can’t expect to get there by doing the same thing and going to the same spots. You must try something different. I’m not saying give up on your dream, I’m saying try another path to the same dream. Same maze, same dream, but take a different direction to get there.

I feel sorry for people who have a dream and give up because it gets hard. Let me tell you something, "IT’S GOING TO GET HARD!" And my answer to that is, "SO WHAT? MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!" Don’t stop because a door closed. I have learned to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed, but if that one was closed I assure you that there is one that is open somewhere. And it’s the right one. Don’t stop until you are living your dream.

Is this helping anybody?

I'm very disappointed! "I" thought this was SO encouraging! I put this on my FB because it helped me. But, no likes on FB? I got more likes when 7 Eleven was having a free slurpees day! God takes us through challenges not so he can break us, but so he can make us bendable and moldable. He wants us to learn to preserve, and one day as we "press on" we will be conformed to his image. James 1: 2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Thank you for the encouragement Tyler. I look forward to meeting you one day in person.

Tyler, I never hear anyone call you "Tyler", so I thought I would be a little different~ if that's okay :) With a humble heart, I say, "Thank you". All my life I have had doors closed and sometimes even locked! But now, I'm more aware of the paths that I have chosen. The question one should ask is ..."Am I being led"?. This is the question of the hour, so many of us fail to realize that our steps are "ordered" by the Lord. In the 23rd Psalm of David ( One of my personal favorites) David say's, " The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want, He makes me to lay down in green pastures, He "leads" me by the still waters and He restores my soul, He leads me down the path of Righteousness for His name's sake"..How awesome is that? Tyler, you're correct "It is Hard", but as long as we are under "His name" we will win! God Bless you Brother "T".

Yes! It's helping me ~ I already know that stuff, and am v. familiar with all you're saying there because I've gone through it, and know that God is about to open that door for me He promised years ago . . . the kairos moment approaches quickly! I like the maze illustration - very apt. And since you're talking about the place where I am now, it's always good to hear another good word about the closed doors, and be encouraged not to get frustrated! I only recently discovered you Tyler, and am so glad I did! I can hardly believe I never heard about you before, but then, I don't watch TV! I just get movies from the library, and I "happened" to find Alex Cross there, which led me to Madea only because I was curious to see what someone who came out with a great film like that would do with Madea's character. I don't know when I laughed so much. I praise God much for you, and thank Him for your great example of not quitting, and pressing on through to victory! YAY! Yes, I would love to work with you . . . I have always had a great love for theatre. So I'm going to respond to that generous invitation of yours soon! I have the mantle of Deborah (Judges) - warrior/prophetess/singer - and know God plans to use my voice to reach many people for His kingdom, and He has been getting me ready for that. He placed me in Royal Oak 3 years ago and is taking care of me here, preparing me for the next step. ("How long, Lord, how long?" Psalm 13) I've learned faith only works with patience . . . . :) Well, I'll write more in my application I guess, or this is going to get ridiculously long . . . Many blessings to you and yours - I LOVE your work! and appreciate you so much . . . our God is AWESOME, and Oh, how He LOVES us! Nothing is too hard for Him! He never leaves us, fails us, or forsakes us ~ Shalom, Deborah :):)

This is exactly what I needed. I feel like right now God is closing all the doors on Me. Finishing my engineering degree last year, I thought that this year will be the year I start working as an engineer and making money, but God has something else for me. He has pretty much closed all doors in that area for now. I don't know what his reasons are but one thing I know for sure is that he knows me more than I know myself and he wants only the best for me. It seems hard at the moment but I know I will be laughing at the end. As the bible says, God's ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are his ways higher than our ways, and his thoughts than ours. Therefore, all I can do right now is praise and worship him and be closer to him because his name has to be glorified through me!!!

Thank you for your insightful post. I was just thinking about this kind of thing. I was looking back at the last two years of my life, and what I had thought was a run of bad luck turned out to be the best thing that ever happened. It's funny, I was so frustrated that things weren't going the way I had hoped. But in hindsight I realize now that everything happened the way it was supposed to, and for that I am truly grateful. You are so right, if it isn't happening for you, then it isn't meant to be. There is something better out there, you just have to keep faith, and keep working. Thanks again :)

I also have a dream of one day being able to create a foundation that enables every child, regardless of their parents income, to take a class that interests them.... Whether it be dance, vocal, piano, guitar.... I am inspired by my beautiful Monet, she is eight years old and loves to perform... she always has. I do struggle to give her the opportunity and I wish I could give her more opportunities. I somehow feel she and Mr. Tyler Perry should meet, she has plenty of ideas but not the right parent to propose them to.

Mr. Perry: I have been reading your early morning thoughts, and while I agree with you regarding "closed doors." It does become frightening sometimes when you don't know which other way to turn. I have been looking for a job now for 4 months after being laid off from the company I worked with for 20 years. I have tried to apply on many, many occasions at your studios with no response. I have applied at every job posting, every employment agency, ads, walk-ins etc. to no avail. I understand the MAZE theory, but there are times, like now, where the MAZE seems to be all there is with no getting out! I am not loosing hope, but I must tell you that the situation is extremely gloomy. I've heard of people not wanting to work, but what about those of us who enjoy working but just can't seem to find another opportunity, what's the answer? Just my everyday thoughts, early morning, middle of the day, late at night, constantly. Take Care, BTW, I watched Temptation on July 9th on PPV....at home and it was BRILLIANT!!!! I also follow The Haves and the Have Nots! Splendid as well! Thanks, Judy Skinner

How ironic that I should read this, AT THIS TIME. I know this well and in fact, have for years, been thanking my Creator for every closed door, indeed! God says not to judge. To me, this even means there is no good or bad; it just IS ... when following Spirit. Our experiences show up for a reason and they should be honored as such. I even go a step further and have always believed that the open doors are always open. They, in my mind, do not open later. They are always open if we keep going and arrive at the particular door, at the right time which is based upon God's time. The door is simply waiting upon our timely arrival. Just imagine buildings with automatic doors which open once our physical presence is detected by strategically placed sensors. GOD IS AWESOME!!! (I just wished we did not underestimate His Power and misunderstand His Presence as we too often do.) I referenced "irony" because I literally, returned an hour and fifteen minutes ago from checking my P O Box and received mail which had been marked as "REFUSED." I'd attempted, Mr. Perry, to send you information regarding a program I began a few years ago for our youth. I was moved to share this with you, considering your Foundation's mission. I was hoping to, at least, have a conversation with you about our common interests because who knows what can happen when ideas are exchanged and efforts are collaborated among like-minded people. I shall, nonetheless, continue on my maze and try another door. :-) May you continue to be blessed and be a blessing!
