I'm Still In The Fight!

One day I’m going to write a book and tell you about all the crap that goes on behind the scenes in my life. Good God almighty, you won't believe some of the things I have to deal with. You would think that by now I wouldn’t have to fight to release a movie... but I do. Everything is a fight. I mean everything. By the time the movie comes out I’m so exhausted from the fight that it’s hard to unwind and take it all in.

Hear me good when I say this to you, I never take for granted that you are going to come out and see my films. Never. I know that you have a lot of choices and a lot of other things you can do with your time and money, so all I can tell you is that I’m so glad that you do and that you have been with me from the beginning. This means the world to me. It really does. That is where I get my rewards, knowing that you are with me. I want you to know that I, and everybody that works at TPS and their families, appreciate it so much.

With that said, MADEA’S WITNESS PROTECTION opens Friday, June 29th. That’s tomorrow. Just to let you know where this idea came from... I was sitting at dinner with a friend and I said to them, “the punishment for Bernie Madoff should have been that he had to move in with Madea." Isn’t the thought of that funny? Light bulbs went off in my head, so I wrote THE FUNNIEST Madea movie I’ve ever written. You’ll see! This movie is hilarious. It’s nonstop laughter. I sure hope you have plans to go out and take your family, friends, social and church groups to see MADEA’S WITNESS PROTECTION this weekend. The first weekend is so important. That’s how you’re judged in Hollywood. And that is how you can help me fight, by showing up at the movie theater this weekend.

I sure hope you still have my back… I need your help to win this fight.

I’ll be on Facebook, Twitter and tylerperry.com’s message board reading your comments.

Mr Perry, your email reminded me of a devotional I did titled "Dont' Allow Distractions to Stop You". I shared from my own personal expereinece where I noticed a pattern where the enemy would launch attacks against me. I noticed that strange things would always come up while writing my second book. Everytime I would set aside time to write, drama would always ,like clock work break out. The drama always came through close relationships. the enemy would use drama to distract me from doing what God had called me to do. He didn't want the book written because he knew it would set people free. Because of all the odd drama, breaking out , I finally asked God what was going on and He revealed to me that this was the enemies way of using distraction to keep me from moving forward with the book (he wanted me to give up)Once I noticed it , I no longer looked at the people, I knew who the author of it was, and that made me even more determined to get the book done. Don't Allow Distractions to Stop You Keep moving forward and I pray that God continue to bless you, as you walk in obedience to His word. Take care Kelly Shaw www.kellyshawministries.com

I have learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is easy and fun as hell...Mr Perry, keep on making your movies and by all means use all kinds of people...I was a young girl once and I did somethings that I shouldn't have done I never drink are did drugs. But my fun was the bed and it was fun but it was wrong , we grow up and learn from I mistakes..People if you don't like his movies and the people he put in them go make your own and let us see what you can do...lol

I just read your letter on FB! I felt like you needed a hug, but maybe it's me that needs the hug. You have inspired so many to step out on faith and do what you are passionate about. Yes, it is hard, Yes, there are some set backs and Yes, it does seem like an up hill battle at times. One thing is for sure... it's always only temporary - that is the best part! Fighting for what we believe in and what we are passionate about allows us to flex our muscles of (heart, faith, passion, determination and courage). Stay in the fight! Laugh at the opposition because you already know that you have succeeded in the outcome. We have a saying here in the office of the largest company in the world "Smile and keep them guessing" You can count on me this weekend.

I was introduced to your work while on a private duty assignment, circa 2003. The nurse that I relieved asked me if I had ever heard of Tyler Perry; I told her no and she about insisted that I view the tape of one of your plays (which she left with me). Needless to say I have been a fan of yours ever since. May God continue to bless and keep you Tyler.
