It's Been a Rough 12 Days...

I’ll keep this short and sweet because it's been a rough 12 days for me, with what would have been my mother’s 67th birthday one day and the awful news about Whitney the next. I can’t even think about it... we’ll talk about that some other time, but for now I just want to be sure you’re planning on going to the movie theaters to see GOOD DEEDS this weekend.

GOOD DEEDS opens tomorrow, Friday February 24th, everywhere. It’s the opening weekend box office numbers that count in Hollywood. That is how they judge you, so if you can make it to the theaters this weekend, please do so. I never ever take for granted that you are automatically going to show up, but I tell you, I thank God that you do. I’m hoping that this time is no different.

I gotta say, this is a different kind of role for me, but it felt good to try something different. You know that there are many people who think I can only do Madea. As much as we love her you and I both know better than that. This is the first time I have ever played a character that is this close to who I am as a man and as a person.

I think you’re going to love it. GOOD DEEDS is going to make you smile, laugh and think, and at the end you’re going to leave lifted and feeling good.

A friend of mine, who has always been honest with me, told me that this is my best movie yet. Tell me what you think. I’ll be on Facebook and my message board all weekend long waiting for the true critics to speak, and that’s you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Love you and know that I appreciate you so much,

Tyler

I celebrate with you the life of your Mom. To everything there is a season. Just know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. You will see her again if you faint not. These are the promises of GOD AND HIS WORD WILL NOT return unto him void. SO hold fast to your faith and know that our Father has dispatched his Angels to keep you as you press on to the higher calling which is in Christ Jesus! On another note, I look forward to seeing you on April 7th, my 33rd WEDDING Anniversary and my 5TH YEAR CANCER FREE anniversary. (GRATEFUL) I'll be at the 3pm show in Washington DC with my family. I pray your continued favor as you work to bring joy into the lives of mankind. MrsGYAYA

I have been thinking about your email entitled, ‘It’s been a rough 12 days’ and it breaks my heart. You must have had a very special relationship with your Mother. This is revealed whenever you mention her. Like Abraham dared to speak to GOD on account of the righteous in Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18), allow me to dare to speak to you about this matter. Letting go of someone, regardless of the kind of relationship, is never easy. However, after I have licked my wounds I have learned to celebrate the time I spent with them and then, by the grace of GOD, moved on. This may sound cliché but most people come into our lives for a season and before we know it their time is up! Although the finality attached to death is hard to come to terms with it is important for us, as believers, to let the dead rest in peace. I believe that GOD gives rest to those He loves and will raise them up at a later time (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). We, as human beings love and when we do it is hard for us to let go of our loved ones especially to death. However, the more we hold on to them the more we remain bound to them and to death. Salvation is eternal life not death and when we grieve about this we deny the life that is stronger than death. It is as if we question GOD’s wisdom in taking our loved ones out of our lives. Again, though I speak out of experience I also speak by revelation of the Spirit of GOD. Granted, people have different grieving patterns and cycles but when we continue grieving for the departed we die with them. We lose a part of ourselves whenever the anniversary of their passing comes around. It is as if we choose death not life (Deuteronomy 30:19)! It seems like we are locked in that time and whatever we touch around this time we do so with the smell of death in our nostrils. When we react this way about death we fail to fully enjoy the freedom that Jesus died for us to have. Spiritual maturity is a level that is attained when we get to the things that hurt us most and instead of hurting, as usual, we feel positive about them. Salvation is about joy, peace and love in the Holy Ghost not continued grief. All in all, my prayer for you is to take time off and appreciate the time you spent with your Mother, thank GOD for her life and let her go. I hasten to add that letting go does not mean forgetting the precious time you spent with her but it is being at peace with her passing. My prayer, still, for you is to start living regardless of your loss. I also pray that GOD fills the void that her death left in your life and in your heart. GOD bless you, Zion H. Mukisa

I watched Good Deeds today. I cried most of the movie. Mainly b/c I'm going thru a tough time, yet I could identify with almost all of the characters! My Angels kept sending me signs to go see this movie! It gave me hope & strength that God will provide a way! I never post comments on message boards, but I am compelled to say Thank You for the Hope when I was ready to give up! I'm going again tomorrow to see it again! I may have to pay my way in with change but I have to see it again! It'll be my Good Deed to invest in supporting Tyler Perry's best movie yet!
