It's Been a Rough 12 Days...

I’ll keep this short and sweet because it's been a rough 12 days for me, with what would have been my mother’s 67th birthday one day and the awful news about Whitney the next. I can’t even think about it... we’ll talk about that some other time, but for now I just want to be sure you’re planning on going to the movie theaters to see GOOD DEEDS this weekend.

GOOD DEEDS opens tomorrow, Friday February 24th, everywhere. It’s the opening weekend box office numbers that count in Hollywood. That is how they judge you, so if you can make it to the theaters this weekend, please do so. I never ever take for granted that you are automatically going to show up, but I tell you, I thank God that you do. I’m hoping that this time is no different.

I gotta say, this is a different kind of role for me, but it felt good to try something different. You know that there are many people who think I can only do Madea. As much as we love her you and I both know better than that. This is the first time I have ever played a character that is this close to who I am as a man and as a person.

I think you’re going to love it. GOOD DEEDS is going to make you smile, laugh and think, and at the end you’re going to leave lifted and feeling good.

A friend of mine, who has always been honest with me, told me that this is my best movie yet. Tell me what you think. I’ll be on Facebook and my message board all weekend long waiting for the true critics to speak, and that’s you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Love you and know that I appreciate you so much,

Tyler

Tyler Perry, you are amazing. I just finished watching "Good Deeds" and I am still up thinking about the lessons taken from the film. I have selected a career in education and dedicate my life serving students. But, what I have just realized is this is not my dream, it was my parents' dream. I have been living a life that is pleasing for my parents. My mother sacrificed her life in order for me to pursue my ambition. Being the first in my family to graduated from college, brought upon a great responsibility to set the example; live by example. I can identify with the character Wesley. I can feel his spirit living within my body. And at the end of the movie, I felt permission to live the life that will bring happiness and joy. Thank you for being a gift.

Mr. Perry: I was just on Yahoo where I saw your response to the question regarding Kim Kardashian. I was over joyed with your response, and the class your showed in responding to this comment. What a gracious way to show the young people that dealing with conflict or critisims can be positive. I am a teacher, and know the value of making good use of teaching moments. I am looking forward to seeing your play in late March. Thank you for being a positive role model for the young and old.

I ABSOLUTELY loved Good Deeds!!!! It was such a different role, I didn't know what to expect. Great cast! I heard people talking c*** about it today and I said, yall complain that he does the "same old stuff" and when he does something different you complain. I let them say whatever they were going to say because maybe the movie wasn't for them. It hit home for me when you told Thandie that she's so used to doing things by herself and it was ok for her to let someone help. That's the greatest thing about your movies and plays; it has so many different messages that they are going to reach multitudes if they just let themselves receive it. I am so looking forward to the next one! BTW...AWESOME remarks at Whitney Houston's homegoing celebration!!! You are multi-talented! Keep up the good work because although some people may criticize, there are so many people like me who are inspired by your every move. That's why I call you "MY MENTOR"

You played the mess out of that role. May God bless the woman that you make a covenant with because if you're Mr. Deeds all the time she has herself a gem. God bless!!

You were right, the movie was awesome! It was one of the best you've done, but honestly I loved them all. They all offered something different and served a different message. This message I loved, why can't we all be more honest instead of getting into relationships for all the wrong reasons. As always you have entertained me and given me so much to think about and live by.

After a very long weekend of work in Orlando, I just saw the last daily viewing of "Good Deeds", hoping to help drive it to the top of the weekend ratings. I have anticipated seeing it since I saw the trailer the opening night of "Red Tails". I was totally pulled in as if I were standing right there in the midst of all the scenes. The movie was very realistic and true to life. I could relate to so many scenes and various life occurances in the movie which is probably why I enjoyed it so much and why I cried during more than a few of the scenes. This movie was very moving and caused very deep reflection during a pivotal time in my own life. Kudos to you, Mr. Perry for allowing God to use you as the the conduit in which to deliver such an awe inspiring, emotional, well written and articulated work of art. I have to agree that it is your best work yet. You just keep knocking our socks off and you keep getting better and better. Your gift is amazing. Blessings and miracles to you!
