Small Goals Will Get You There!

I just recently started back running after taking a break from it for quite some time. I remember I was up to 5 miles nonstop. I was so proud of myself, but life happened and I got really busy and distracted. Once you stop it’s really hard to get your endurance back up, so I started back running this past week.

Now everyday that I would get out and start running I would look at my distance watch and just say let me just make it one nonstop mile today... every time I would get exhausted. I would look at the watch and get so frustrated that I was that tired and not even halfway there. I’d get so disappointed I would just start to walk. This happened over and over again, then a friend of mine said, “it’s not about speed, its about endurance.” I thought about those scriptures that say, “the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong...it’s to the one who endureth to the end.” So yesterday I started running and decided not to look at the watch, not to watch the time, but to just focus on what was right in front of me, one step at a time. The task at hand was not looking up but just thanking God for where I was at that moment. Before I knew it I had run two miles. I had to thank God for those two miles, it wasn’t five, but it’s a great start for me to get back to the five.

As I celebrated with my hands in the air, it made me think of life in so many ways. It made me think how we set out with these huge goals for ourselves and they seem so hard to reach. They seem so impossible, and when we have small victories we don’t even stop to notice them, we don’t stop and say, “God thank you for where I am right now.” Life and its circumstances distract us, and we get frustrated because we feel that we’re running out of time. You may not be at your goal yet, but what you need to know is that with each step you get closer. Take some time to stop and thank God for where you are, stop focusing so hard on the finish line and enjoy the race.  Each step toward your goal is a victory, you can’t get overwhelmed with how far you have to go... you just need to focus on one step at a time. Keep going.

With that said, I want to thank you for watching The Haves and The Have Nots on Tuesday and Love Thy Neighbor on Wednesday nights. This was my first drama on TV and I was a little overwhelmed when I thought about it, but you, you, YOU! You not only are watching these shows but also taking time to tell me and everyone else how much you love them, thank you so much. The haters can scream so loud sometimes that you miss the voices of the people who love what you do. Don’t worry now, you are screaming louder than them.  I hear you, you love it, and I thank you so much for watching both of the shows.  You have no idea how many lives you have changed by watching them, how many jobs you keep creating just by turning on OWN on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, I’m grateful beyond words.

Only 5 more episodes of The Haves and The Have Nots for the next five weeks, and only 6 more episodes of Love Thy Neighbor for the next three weeks.

Hey There Tyler, Much Love To You And Yours!!! I just want to thank you for always having a word from God to bless us at just the right moment. We feel your heart with every word, and even though, with everything you maybe going through, you still have great love to share with us and we truly appreciate you. Just like Ms. Grace, God is bringing me through a time I never thought I would be in, but I am wrapped in His love, and His love never fails. Ms. Grace, you are blessed. You have child/children that love you, and by you being a mom, you are already stronger and have more strength than you realize. God's love is sinning on you my sister. You are after "GRACE". : - D I am here and I am still standing. I will not waver through unbelief regarding the promises of God's word. I may see one thing but I know God has something greater for me. I may stumble and fall but it is He that lifts me, to let me know I am not alone. Tyler, My Beloved, I lost my mom over 10 years ago. I wish I had with her what you have with your mom. I know you mom is so very proud of you and I truly believe her and God both kiss you on the forehead each night before you drift off to sleep. You are so very loved, because you are such a great blessing to so many of us. I wish you all, that God has planned for you and so much more, because what He has planned is so much more than we can possible dream. By the way, I am loving, The Have And Have Nots!!!! Some of the lines and scenes are amazing!!!! I'm walking through the house talking to myself saying, Oh My God!!!! She did not just say that!!!! You Go Boy!!! I am so proud of you!!!! This is some of the best writing you have ever done!!!! AMAZING!!!! Well....I had better get back to work...LOL!!!!!!!!!! With Great Love And Much Respect, Dena*

As ALWAYS, your message is very timely. I had a mini-meltdown this morning about my job search and possible abandonment of my legal career and a friend gave me some very similar advice. He told me to just focus on getting out of the blocks and not the end-game. About the haters...before the 2012 Presidential election, a friend said that she was worried about President Obama's chances because of all of the radicals. I told her that just because you can only hear the loudest voices doesn't mean that they are the majority. Thanks for your words of wisdom.

Hello Tyler, thank you for such inspiring words. I am being tested right now by trials of life and I just want to be happy. Life can throw us punches one after the other so fast that I wonder when will I be able to come up for air! However, one step at a time and one day at a time .I too was running three miles a day, but life got in my way being a mother and all. I will start my running again and I will have no excuses! Have a blessed day Tyler and continue to just be you.

Hello Ms. Grace, I just wanted to say again, you are loved and God's love surrounds you. Below are just a few things to bring you comfort and a smile. Psalm 23 The Lord is my Shepherd (to feed , guide, and shield me), I shall not lack. Isaiah 58: 11 And the Lord shall guide you continually and satisfy you in drought and in dry places and make strong your bones. And you shall be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not. Isaiah 34:16 Seek out of the book of the Lord and read: not one of these (details of prophecy) shall fail, none shall want and lack her mate (in fulfillment). For the mouth (of the Lord) has commanded, and His Spirit has gathered them. 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and what ever the need be self-sufficient (possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation). Romans 4:20-21 No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubting question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and might you keep His word and to do what he had promised. Luke 4:10 For it is written, He will give His angels charge over you to guard and watch over your closely and carefully. Psalm 91: 11 For He will give His angels (especial) charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways (of obedience and service). Ms. Grace, I wish you much love and every dream and desire fulfilled. Have A Wonderfully Blessed Day, Dena*
