Where Is Your Dress, Tyler?

"You’re not wearing a dress in this movie. Do you think your audience will come and see it? Where is your dress, Tyler?"

I was in a press conference and a reporter asked me this question. You know I had to take a deep breath... LOL. It is so funny how people want you to be in a box. They always want you to do and be one thing. God forbid you try and show them that you can do more than comedy.

I said this to him, "Just because my audience likes one thing, it doesn’t mean that they won't accept me in another. Dress or no dress. I mean, we don’t just like comedies, we like thrillers, dramas, action movies and science fiction as well. Am I right? I went on to explain to this reporter that you all have always stood with me. You not only stand with me but you celebrate me and want to see me do my very best. That’s all you ever ask of me and all I ask of myself. While I am sure that a lot of you will love and support this movie, I also know that thrillers and action is not for everybody. But remember, this movie is still PG-13 and given a chance, I think you will enjoy it so much.

Can you tell how excited I am about Alex Cross? I told James Patterson very early on that if I thought that I couldn’t do it, I would have turned the role down when it was offered to me. I didn’t want to let him down, the Alex Cross fans down, or let you down. Now, with all that said, I JUST WANT YOU TO GO TO THE MOVIES AND SEE IT FOR YOURSELF!!! Alex Cross is a thrill ride from beginning to end. With movies, a lot of times the trailer is better than the movie. Not in this case. Alex Cross delivers on so many levels. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for you to see it! You be the judge! YOU BE THE JUDGE!!

ALEX CROSS is in theaters October 19th. Are you planning on going?

You know the first time I ever seen a Madea play I was at my woerst state My children had been taken away from me and It seemed like The people who took them we're trying to drive me crazy because no matter what I did they just kept lying and using any manner of obstruction that they could to keep my babies and then had the nerve to believe that I would actually come to terms with it. So I was sitting there and I looked over at the people who I was staying with because I was homeless then and they asked me do you want to watch Madea and I asked who is Madea they told me that Madea was Tyler Perry dressed up like a woman at that time I did not have much desire to do anything all that I loved in this world had been taken away from me and kept away by lies and deciet and to tell you the truth I was beginning to believe there was not truth that I could find anywhere and nobody who could help me I mean I was put in jail, beaten , kept in a celll for 23hours a day all of these thing because I was trying to get my family back and I would not commit myself to them . So I began watching Madea's Family Reunion and can I tell you In one year the only truth taht I heard was in that play now I don't care what nobody says I aaaam saying thjs my only regret is that that reporter can't hear it. For Love of your People You put on that dress not to prance around and protray your self as a tranvestite a homosexual but to get a clear point across to your people We have all called I grandmothers Madea or even Our mother and you did this for us so we would be able to see things with the physical eye we could not see in the mental and I Thank You you don't know what it did to me taht day But I"ll tell you I am here today and I am telling you part of my story and I know I will get to tell you the rest one daySo Don't you ever put that dress up and when We see you out of it it is not you out of character It is just you Tyler Perry a man who is not compromised by the world but compromises IT

I'am going to see Alex Cross because I get to watch you show the world that you are so much more than Madea's character. Don't get wrong I love Madea's character! I'am originally form Mansfield, Louisiana. Thank you for sharing your gift that God has given you. I was just reading some of your comments and people don't understand that in the tongue lies a blessing and curse. You have to be careful of the things you say to others. I don't care who is in your movies or sitcoms I will continue to support TP. God Bless!

Tyler Perry: Am I going to see Alex Cross? Try and stop me. I think it's amazing that you are moving out of your comfort zone. Expanding your horizons. If the trailers are any indication, I think you did a remarkable job as a dramatic actor. The last thing that any actor wants is to be type cast. I suppose that is one of the many reasons you are branching out. I know it's too soon to tell but honestly you were believable and that's what it's all about. You were graceful with the reporter while you tried to get him to think outside the box. Some people can change. Some can't. Face forward. You have a great deal to be proud about. Finally I love Madea to death and seeing her/ you/ dolled up is always jokey.

Tyler, you are a wonderful, brilliant actor, on both stage and movies. Even tho I absolutely love Madea, I enjoyed you in "A Family that Preys" and that was not a comedy. I love James Patterson books, and I personally think you will make "Alex Cross" a hit! By the way, I bought your book " Don't make a Black Woman take her earrings off" when it first hit the shelves, and still refer to it to this day! Lol

Hi Tyler, Please tell the reporters something for me the next time that you are asked that question "do you think your audience will come and see your movies without the dress?" Tell them your audience is very intelligent and we do not pay to see a dress, we pay to see you. The magic lies within you and your unique DNA (Divine Nature Attributes). Just as today was 10/11/12, God has aligned and ordered your steps. All you have needed His hand has provided and Great is His Faithfulness...you have built it, now rest assured they will come. I LOVE YOU, Day Dreamer

Mr. Perry I'm a huge fan of your work, as well as the Alex Cross series. I've read all of those books. I will most definitely be going to see this movie & support you. I'm curious if Alex Cross will be just one movie or will it become a series like the books?
