Whitney. Still Praying.

For many years, I couldn’t turn my ringer off on my phones because my mother was very ill.  My phone would be on all night. This is tough for me because I’m the type of man who loves to be in pure quiet when I’m home. No TV, no radio, no nothing. Just quiet. Mainly because there is so much noise in my life.

After my mother died in 2009, I started turning my ringer off without the fear of missing a very important call. After you lose someone you love, nothing seems very important. So I was at my house in L.A. last year on February 11th, dreading facing February 12th. That would have been my mother’s 67th birthday. I’m always a little sad around that time but that morning started out okay. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get through the 12th. All I had to do was protect my spirit, let me just leave the TV off and turn the ringer off so that I could not be reminded of the grief that I had been enduring.

I decided to turn in early. I was getting in the bed and my cell kept lighting up. So I finally looked at my phone and I had text about Whitney. The one that was most shocking was a friend who said, “Tell me it’s not true.” I immediately knew what that meant. I tried to call Pat, her sister-in-law, but couldn’t reach her. Within a few minutes Pat called me back and asked me to come down to the hotel.

I went to the Beverly Hilton Hotel, got out of the car and I thought it was some kind of sick joke. There were hundreds of people standing around, laughing, drinking and screaming for autographs from celebrities as they arrived for a Grammy party. People were screaming my name and taking pictures as I pushed through the crowd. I went up to the floor and saw the police and coroners outside of the room. I went into the room and Whitney’s family was broken down, inconsolable. We must have been right above the party because there was a glass of water on the nightstand that was vibrating from the bass and the screams below. It was so surreal. Such a juxtaposed position to see this family breaking down and hear laughter and cheers from below us. It really made me think about her life. While her voice brought so much joy, there was so much sadness inside of her.

As I am seeing all these tributes to her on this one-year anniversary of her death, I want you to know something: Whitney was a fighter. She really tried to get herself together. She really tried to overcome. She really wanted to, and I also know that, like me, a lot of you were praying and rooting for her. So, for all of us that were praying for Whitney’s full recovery, for all of us who cared that she was on this planet, for all of us who loved her, I just want you to know that even though she is gone, there are still things that we can do for her. We can keep her daughter and her family lifted up in prayer. We can also pray for other people in this business, especially these young people who come in so bright eyed and eager, only to have it tear at their very souls.

I thank God I didn’t become successful until I was older. The younger you are when you start in this business, the more at risk you are.  Speaking of that, we can also pray for the children of these people. If you only knew what people in this business have to endure to sit in their seat. I’m not asking you to feel sorry for anyone. I’m simply asking you to pray for us all.

God bless. Miss you Whitney.

Well, this is the second time I'm trying to post. This happened once before wrote from my heart and nothing would post. Well, I will take these lemons (posting failing) and turn them into something I love, sweet lemonade :). I just wanted to say I stand in agreement with you about Whitney and her family. I want you to know that we SEE you and we (my son and I) are praying for your HEALING and protection as well. My son and I are extremely and I take it from your prior testimonies, so were you and your mom. Believe it or not, after waking and giving the God the glory first I viewed a video that my son made of him and I and tears dripped down my chin of his heartfelt testimony (which I didn't know) of how he truly viewed my position and importance in his life. My minded drifted to you because I have never heard any man before testify to the love and respect he has for his mom. So be encouraged. God is JUST and MERCIFUL. I believe He allows our loved ones to let us know that the end is NOT the end. We feel their presence, we smell an aroma in the air, we sense protection; a watchful eye. Close your eyes and fellowship with your mom and God. Peace and Power

If you want Tyler Perry to put his name behind getting you a job as a teacher, you could at least have spell-checked your letter. Doesn't that demonstrate something about your teaching ability. Now I know anyone can make a mistake. But come'on now! Seriously!!!

Well my prayers are with you as well, because I know what it's like to lose a loved one, my father passed in 2009 as well, suddenly and that's hard on someone when its not expected. He was 68, he was the greatest father ever, raised me, my brother and my sister by himself with no help from my mother. He kept us in church, and of course I'm the only one still going!!! He wasn't too happy about that with my sister! But we all have to get it right on our own, God gives us a choice. People laugh when I tell them my dad used to do me and my sister's hair, he would wash it, dry it, and hot comb it!! ha ha ha and we have alot of hair I do not see how he did it!!!! But I thank God that he blessed us with a man of God who cared, even though my mother did not make an effort to see us or for whatever reason? It hurt alot at the time, but now I just thank God for the positive side of it I had a great Dad!!! May God bless you and the Houston family, PS- Madea gets a job play was awesome!!! Take care!!!! Mr Tyler, there are evil-forces in the movie industries and of this world. Please do not join them. Secret orders that promise success, riches and power; does that sound familliar? Please stay in the staight and narrow path. God will continue to bless you. Keep the message of Love and forgiveness current and relevant in your message. God bless you and staff members. "I love you and will do you no harm." Encourage people to say that phrase because the people who say I love you, sometimes do more harm and fatal damage to love ones. Please Tyler darling don't join the world's system.... Promote Love form above! I will continue to pray for you and families as you requested. Your Fans wait for another message from you. Write soon.

You shouldn't want your child to be like anyone but him or her self. You don't know what Mr. Perry had to go threw to get to what he is today. God my want better for your child and your praying that he or she is like someone else. Please do not do that. Allow your child to be who they are and who God has created them to be.
