I had an "aha"moment when you said the young man was trying to make a choice between a $5 and a $7 shirt. The words "you can have whatever you want" were so foreign to him. That is part of my legacy to give in this life...My children-you can choose any college you want, live anywhere you want, choose any career you want, love yourself any way you want, demand respect any way you want, and the list goes on. That is part of my destiny in this life - "to give the anything you want" experience to those in need. I like that and I like how it excites my soul!
Thank you for those words of encouragement! Power of life and death are in th tongue and a lot of people are unaware of that truth. Sometimes I have to check myself when I allow that spirit of negativity to sneak up on me. I just that God for his grace and mercy for seeing me through!
Hi Tyler, I love your views on life, God and living! I can see the roots of your upbringing just like a "lighthouse" to a ship at sea! Your comments about what you profess with your mouth (ie: thinketh/sayeth in your mind/heart) so will it be, is such a powerful testiment to what we can either allow or limit God in His gift's to us. I truly believe that God gives each of us a VERY special gift and I believe your's is one of discernment & leading. God gave me a gift of music and, although I chose to raise my children first (and therefore put my family first) my music career is a longer harder path. I believe it can STILL happen, but as you say, it still will require work...maybe moreso than before when I was young. By me putting my children first (as I believe God would have me do), it has allowed me time to grow and appreciate not only what I HAVE but what I CAN HAVE in the future....I can better understand the work that goes into getting what I want and having the faith to led God do the leading and let it be in His time. Don't get me wrong, I still struggle with it just like any other person, but it is gratifying when I do perform one of my original songs and have someone come up and say "You don't know HOW MUCH I NEEDED to hear your message in that song today!" and know God has allowed me to touch another person's spirit (maybe even help them heal from a past pain or get through something) thru the very gift He has given me. I recently was offered a nice beginning recording contract but couldn't take them up on their offer due to my husband asking me for a divorce (after 9 years of marriage)...but even so, as much as it hurt to have to turn them down, I knew that God would provide at another time. That time has yet to come, but still I write and wait for HIS time because God is ALWAYS on time! Thank you for your inspiration to ALL people (black, white, pink/purple/blue <grin> even polka dot....it doesn't matter - I've never been one to look at a person's "skin" first...I look BENEATH the cover of the book for the spirit inside!). I do hope someday, I will have an opportunity to meet you in person and share some of my music with you...may it be an inspiration to YOU as YOU are to others and myself. Love Madea!
