The Stage Play, Madea's Big Happy Family, was written, produced, directed by and stars Tyler Perry.

The story focuses on a middle-aged single mother named Miss Shirley (performed on stage by Chandra Currelley-Young), who has just received a diagnosis of terminal cancer. With the help of Madea, she assembles her grown children (and their significant others) for one final reunion, during which loyalties are tested and unpleasant truths are spilled.

Everything that happens as a result of Shirley's major announcement will either bring the family closer together or tear them apart forever.

I absolutely love the ascent to heaven scene with Chandra Currelley-Young. The bus from Charlotte NC to Cherokee NC casino shows the video nearly every other trip, so I have seen this play numerous times. I cry every time because the song is sung so beautifully and the words are full of praise and joy. Although Tyler Perry uses different actresses for stage versus television/ movie productions, it would be awesome if they could weave Chandra Currelley-Young and that ascent to heaven scene into a television show or movie. And give her the graceful matron with long hair look.

Hello Mr. Perry , once again my name is Carrell Brady. I have been following your plays since "The Dairy of A Mad Black Woman: The stage production". I am 19 years old and I love what you are doing with my passions. Your putting the love for my God and theater together. I see that you have hit every aspect of trials in tribulations in the young and black community except one. That's he battle of homosexuality. Now I'm an aspiring play wright and actor myself. I have started writing this play and it's been put on my heart to let the world know how about the struggles with dealing with such a strong demon and being able to come out of it. I was hesistant about coming to you because I know that you're very busy, but I'veearned that once The Lord continuously put something on your spirit it's best not to ignore it. I thank you for taking the time out to read this comment. Thank you and Have a Bless day.

This is my favorite. I have it on my kindle and i watch it over and over. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry. There is so much to take away from it, so much of value. My favorite part I think is when Madea steps out of the character to comment about how a person does things to take care of their family, even if its wearing a dress onstage, to paraphrase. I love your work. I thank you.
