I just watched For Colored Girls for the first time today on DVD. Wow. What an awesome job you did with this movie. It was poetry within poetry. The acting was amazing. Every actress and actor in this movie brought their A game. This was obviously a labor of love for everyone involved. Like others on this page, I can't believe that it was not nominated for any awards. But Mr. Perry, you don't need their recognition. Just as you started your own Hollywood in Atlanta Georgia, you received your Oscar nominations and won from all of your fans that saw this movie and were never the same. Brilliant!!!

The movie "For Colored Girls" helped show the world, especially the black world that each character did portray the different emotional state of black women and why. It examplifies how black women need love from a partner, even though the person that they may choose could be wrong for them. It also showed how black women who have had some sort of trauma usually closes their hearts to another relationship. Whoopie's part was so significant about how black women look for Yashua in the church as their mate instead of finding a reality relationship and how women who never heal their hurt pour out their hurt on their children. Also, how black women who have been victimize becomes the victim. Most importantly, Janet part showed how black women know in their hearts that something is untrue about their partners, however, they still turn their heads, until something serious happens like AIDS. Tyler did a terrific job as well as the actors in this movie and I hope that our people will realize that we need Healing emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. I loved sharing my thoughts!! Rosemary
