I posted my thoughts about the show on facebook, but would like to explain them further here. I am quite familiar with the legal community -- the AA legal community to be specific and I was very disappointed to see the hooker character presented as a successful law student. Why go to law school if you're a happy hooker ready to blackmail the first rich guy that comes along? It's a very poor reflection on sisters who are trying to achieve respect for their intellect. Affairs, yes -- hooking -- no. That character is tremendously distasteful and unrealistic, imo. Whoever writes for that character can not have any actual law school experience in their background. The only disappointment of the evening. People should write about what they know, unless they are clearly writing fantasy. I say this with love and respect for what you're doing.

Mr. Evans it is you who does not have a clue about how to get through lawschool. While everyone does not have to hook, sometimes some people have to do others things to get over. Some wives have to "hook"; maybe even yours. You might be your wife's biggest "john".

Okay, This is a free country and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you must have not been paying attention to the character's background . Yes she is an escort who happens to be a single mother who is paying her way through law school in order to obtain a better life. Yes, she is a malicious character, however, so is the world. I do not know what glass bottle you live in, but it is not unheard of for people do things to obtain a better way of life. You saw the materialism and did not see the symbolism. The character represents the world, 'get it all cost not matter what ," does not mean it is right, but that is her representation, her mother and brother represents the spirit, "put your faith in God, work hard and pray for the best and good things will come." Do not be fooled by this world. I know a many of people who went to medical school, law school, business school, you name it, and was willing to sacrifice in order to get it. Where I live, there are three major law schools and two global medical schools and trust and believe, you had some people stripping, gambling, and ect .. in order to pay that tuition, to make their dreams come true. My thing is don't put to much judgement on a situation, because you do not know who that character may represent in the real world. Just because you can not see it, does not mean it is true. You would be amazed.

I feel the character Candace is VERY realistic. Hooking--its called ESCORTING. And women of ALL races ESCORT. Somebody always has something to say when in reality Tyler Perry is BRILLIANT, Law school is expensive so a lower class sister escorting makes sense.

I don't know what you know, but I do know whats going on in a world where some college girls are call girls to support themselves to stay in school. You can check out the movie the craigslist killer which is a true story. There's so many other things to complain about instead of a series that's fiction. I love it! Its like looking at the morning stories, entertainment is for enjoyment. These things do happen, so it might change a person if they can see themselves through Mr.Perry's fictions if they living as one of his characters.

This is response to Lee. Why are we so sensitive about reality. Being on this planet for seventy years does not expose me to all conditions of this world. I think your show is done in very good taste, but reality for some. Shows that I think are offensive don't get watched by me. All you have to do is change the channel and quite bashing the people who climb the ladder in your behave to make this world a better place. I think the acting is second to none.

Are we believing Candance to be a happy hooker or a escort? There is a difference.... Remember the movie: Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts' character started off as a hooker but became a escort....

Lee, when the credits rolls, we have never seen; 'based upon a true life story'??!!!! so obviously it is fiction!! and a real juicy fiction if we may say so; Candace is a very exciting character; a girl with history and a past, but one with a dream and a real big dream, and has set goals and decided to go after them and achieve them and make those dreams reality!! what is so wrong with that?? actually she is one to be admired. Dream Big!! Continue the excitement Mr. Tyler Perry!!!

TashaB..I agree with you. Tyler once again has brought to light what is real. We don't want to face the truth about life and seeing it sometimes causes us to be angry...look in the mirror that's is whom your anger should be directed. Keep the good work up Tyler...love you man

Lee Evans, I'm so sick of people like YOU, why do look for reality in a storyline? In fact a story that's about TWO Law School student one white trust fund kid, the other is a black, smart and ambitious young woman who comes from a strong single parent household and have grown accustom to a better life for herself. So she resorts to escorting to not only to pay for school but to support the CHILD that she has placed somewhere. Tyler have not developed that part of the storyline yet! In any event, Tyler Perry is writing and producing content that reflects a larger portion of Black life in America, Judges, Doctors, Lawyers, Maids aka Nanny's, Small Business Operators like the brother who has his OWN towing service, but no mention of that! People like you SICKEN ME with your self righteous indignation about ones responsibilty to "the people" A "hooker character presented as a sucessful law student" couldn't be true because she's in Law Shool? Clearly it is you that don't know what you're talking about! WHITE and BlACK LAW & MEDICAL SCHOOL young women and model type men have paid for a life style and school by way of ESCORTING, STRIPPING AND BLACKMAILING. Pull your head out of the clouds, the higher ones ambition, you'd be surprised at the measures one take to accomplish their goals. Tyler has tapped into a story line that's loaded with REAL LIFE SCENERIOS. So sorry that you have NOT arrived nor you have been INVITED into a world where High Net Worth men and women will buy sex from law students as effortlessly as breathing. Again, it's a TELEVISION SERIES NOT A DOCUMENTARY. Save your "disappointment" for writer, director and producers like Quintin Tarintino!

Wow. I don't think the character of Candace represents all hard-working, black female law students. That was not Mr. Tyler Perry's intention. He is a writer so he is writing about a particular character for his show. She is purposefully supposed to be the villain. Just as Hamlet Prince of Denmark is supposed to go mad in Shakespeare's tragedy. Some would say Shakespeare knows nothing of the royal family to write about a character in that light. Shakespeare is telling a story. This is the same thing Mr. Perry is doing. You may not agree with him portraying this law student as an escort but I assure you there have been many women who have taken jobs or who have a side hustle to put themselves through school. Also a great career does not mean that a person is of great character. There is simply no premise to your argument which makes it invalid. I'm sure you just were disappointed. However, it is only TV. There are awesome black women who achieve great things and their achievements cannot be tarnished by this one character. I assure you Mr. Perry would most likely applaud and celebrate them before tearing them down. Mr. Perry is a great playwright and Director one of the few great black story tellers left. You may not like the man but for a greater cause try not to tear him down as well.

That character of candace disgust me because I feel it will serve as encouragement to young girls who want to tred that path unless the story line disfavours that character later on, there are girls from poor families who thrive without being mischievous. The character I commend most is Hannah, she played the role of a single, disciplined, dedicated mother so well she deserves an award.kudos to the writer and director of the movie.

Girl the Haves and the Have Nots is just a big soap opera. It is not meant to be realistic just fun to watch and share with your friends about the shows. It NOT REAL LIFE, but it was never meant to be life changing, or realistic. It is fun watching and trying to figure out what's going to happen next in the scene. I have my husband of 18 years likes the show too.

I have just started watching the show and like it quite well. As for all the negative comments and trying to make this a social statement show, this is a fiction TV show for entertainement for goodness sakes! If I want serious stuff, watch the evening news, 20/20 or Dateline. this is my Dallas/J.R./Sue Ellen/Bobby/Pam night soap opera so I don't have to think TV show. The show is well written, has great characters so enjoy the show and stop trying to make it something it is not.
