4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life

21 if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

16 Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day. 17 For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!], 18 Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Dear Mr. Perry, As an Ethiopian national, I just wanted to express my dismay. But first, the positive. I am a big fan of your work, and friends say I'm Madea in her younger years...lol. Recently, I started watching House of Payne, which I enjoy. Today, I came across the episode "House of Sabotage". I will be the first to point out the many struggles and hardships my countrymen and women face. But I will also be the first to point out that the narrative of "poverty, famine and disease" used in this episode, also in news and elsewhere, is a poor, grossly unbalanced and slightly condenscending characterization of 80 million people and the land they call home. As a student of international affairs, I am acutely aware of the power of narratives, and I was disappointed and saddened that this realization was not present in this episode. I urge consideration when portraying a foreign land that audiences may or may not be encountering for the first time through your work.

Bless the LORD,O my soul, 2 and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; 3 who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; 4 who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; 5 so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
