Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Also, I don't think the show is promoting or condoning anything specifically except good fun & entertainment. The law student hooking her way thru school is something that actually happens. Judge Cryer & his family having an addict for a son, a daughter with mental problems, a mother silently fighting cancer and a cheating father does actually happen somewhere. The Harringtons having a g** son with a controlling, dominant mother that refuses to accept that truth and a naive father, also happens in real life. None of this means that Tyler Perry is promoting prostitutes, cheating, addictions or Christianity. It means to me, that he hit the nail on the head in these situations and I applaud him for that. Continue being you, Tyler Perry. Those of us that love you & your shows, love you genuinely.

What people need to realize first and foremost is the fact that this is television and, therefore, entertainment. didn't know that, in order to have a popular, successful TV show, ALL information needs to be true and correct. The first time I watched the show I didn't know that it was supposed to be somewhat like a soap opera. However, after viewing a few more shows, I started getting into the characters, story line, etc. The bottom line of anything that is on the air, if you don't like it, then don't watch it. Yes, we are entitled to our own opinions, but people analyze things entirely too much. It's entertainment!! I, personally, LOVE the show & even got my significant other to start watching and he enjoys it!! There are numerous different genres of television shows out here from comedy to drama, reality TV & even documentaries. We have a lot to choose from. With that being said, if you don't like it, change the channel!! I love you, Tyler Perry!! Keep doing what you're doing & never falter. ON THE EDGE OF MY BED...WAITING ON THATHN TO COME BACK!!!!

I just read the "Shocked Viewer" comment and had to ask myself "did I write that and forgot that I had?" I was just chatting with some friends - all very discriminating about how we give our time to TV. We found the first season of Haves to be quite well done. However last season totally wasted our time. One actress's lines for the entire season were "eeney, meany, miney, mo" and then a gunshot. Another actor woke up out of a coma and spent the entire season in the kitchen with his mother! Some actors had one change of clothing for the whole season - really?? We felt insulted by the season and don't plan to watch the next one but please respect your viewers' time enough to deliver quality entertainment and not simply string them along while they contribute to your ratings.

Hello Mr, Perry. My name is Keyon Johnson and my whole life I dreamt of being a actor. I love every movie you have and I would love to have a opportunity to work with you on some projects. I don't really have the experience to act but I am taking some classes. I really hope you get my message and get back to me as soon as possible. I would love to hear from you. I am currently a freshman at Morris College in Sumter South Carolina. I am from Chicago. I am 18 years old. I really hope I get this opportunity, it would a wonderful and enjoyable experience to live out my dream with my role model. I love all of your work and I really love The Haves and the Have Nots. that is my favorite show. I cant wait for the new season in January. I really am waiting on God to let this experience happen for me because I want to make my family proud to see me on TV living my dream. Even though my dad is not here I am sure he would be proud to see that as well. Thanks for your time, cant wait to hear from you. God Bless.

I'm absolutely in love with this show and all the cast. Things on the show are now getting HOTTER and JUICIER than ever and I'm so glad that me, my family and church family haven't missed one single episode of both seasons. We are so looking forward for third season...we are so looking forward to it that we even MARKED IT ON OUR CALENDARS AND EVERYTHING ELSE!!! We are, like, your biggest superfans in the world. Keep up the good work, Tyler, and we can't wait to get your new play "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Woman Scorned" on DVD when it comes out in November.

I absolutely love this show! It is well written and one of the best soaps I have watched in a very long time. It is more relatable than those soaps you see in the afternoons. The actors are perfectly matched for each character. Tyler Perry has out done his self once again! I can not wait for the new season to start! The anticipation is driving me crazy! Please keep the shows and movies coming Tyler (Perry), but Don't you Dare think of ending this series anytime soon! I would like to see this go on like the day time soaps which are in my opinion no where near real life or relatable to anything in the daily life of REAL people! Tyler Perry has a true gift from God! Write on Tyler (Perry) Write on. :)

OMG...this is the best weekly series drama on TV. I don't usually watch these kinds of shows, but I am hooked! Wish there was not so much down time between seasons. I think this is Tylers best show on OWN!!!
