From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Veronica is a beast! I couldn't stand her in season one and now she is my favorite. I also download the app and am having a blast. Keep it up!

Beast is one way to describe Veronica, and I don't mean that in a kind way! She's a spiteful, vindictive, poor-excuse-for-a-mother witch if I ever saw one! I believe Veronica was once g** herself, and perhaps was shamed because of it; that's why she insists that Jeffrey go 'straight' and is pushing Melissa on him to have continual sex until he 'likes it'. She's sick! David is bound to leave her! Benny/Veronica is not going to last long...Hannah will see to that; I guess Candace's new 'friend' will make an honest woman out of her; I think he's somehow going to be an influential person, more so than Jim, but who actually LIKES her! I hope she gets her son back and Q goes back to prison to stay (he might take Veronica with him when he tells it was she who got him out to begin with), one more reason for Candace to hate Veronica! I want Hannah to be with Michael, NOT the two-faced detective! And we haven't seen the last of CELINE...Jim and Catherine's problems are just beginning b/c she won't be easy to get rid of; will Wyatt change his mind about wanting to 'do the right thing' now that he's been schooled about prison? Jeffrey, get over him and s**** with Landon, who really DOES care about you!

Hello Mr. Perry, my name is Janai Crumity I'm 15 years old and I was interested in getting a job within your company I saw it on your website, I'm a very big fan I watched all your movies loved them! Mr. Perry, I'm a devoted fan of your show, "The Haves and the Have Nots." However, I've had to recently terminate my cable TV service, due to the ever-increasing rates and the demand for a cable box on every TV with its related costs. Instead, I've bought ROKU streaming sticks and have installed the advanced, high-tech antennas. So I excitedly prepared to view the June 30 premier, but was crushed to find, even with all the hundreds and hundreds of channels and networks included on ROKU, the OWN network wasn't there. Why is that? Can I get a copy of the premier episode? Is there any way I can watch the episodes on my computer? I'm very, very disappointed, as I've followed the show from the start. Thank you.

I wish that it was possible to have e your wonderful shows on regular TV. I am not fortunate to be able to afford cLeaning or satellite and therefore I just have to listen to friends tAlk about how good the shows are. Just not in my budget at the time . But keep up the great and wonderful work you do! You are an awesome actor, producer and writer.

I think this is one of the best written, smartest shows on television. Every actor is absolutely perfect in their roles. It is also very nice to see Philip Boyd in the cast. Keep up the awesome work!

Disappoint with how Veronica and David's story line is playing out...why does she have to be the "typical" angry black woman? Please don't let David end up with Maggie.

    • Dee DE #2121834

I agree with you. I'm very disappointed this story line.

    • Maureen fort myers,fl 33905 #2121862

I'm with you...I'm not crazy about the character of Candice, but love Veronica,Catherine, and all the other dysfunctional characters, but not liking the storyline for Veronica,as she's becoming an out of control real b******* Woe is David and all who get in her way,if this writing continues, to totally demonize Veronica,as h*** in heels keeps going...Tone her character down, and stop with treating Jeffrey so badly... Benny is not for Veronica,as she will chew him up and spit him out....

Mr. Perry, I've been following the show religiously but there are 2 improvements that are truly needed: 1) For your older viewers with slightly less than perfect hearing could you please tone down the music so that we can hear the dialogue better (turning the volume up does NOT help), and 2) Could you please lessen the pauses for dramatic effect - the exorbitant pauses detract from the shows content and drama. Thanks!

Tyler I was so excited to see the show. Can't believe Veronica wanted to see Benny. Feel bad for David, I wonder about this Oscar guy, hope he can change Candice. I can't wait until next Tuesday. You're doing an excellent job.
