From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

I LOVE the Haves and Have Nots...totally addicted to it! I grew up near Savannah - very familiar with ALL of the characters, you got a little bit of everybody in there. I am not watching for some documentary...just for fun and you nailed it.

Dear Tyler. please stop with all these forced and attempted rape scenes this is very sickening and redundant this is happening ever season please stop it.

  • Didi wny

Loved the premier, but did anyone find the music overpowering the dialogue during the whole show ?

  • Pat Brito

Oh, boy. Saw last night's premiere of the Have'some and Have Nots. Tyler Perry, I'm telling you this mom and grandma just wants to rub that head. My goodness how crazy is it going to get?. LOL. Excellent writing. Sitting on the edge of the seat saying or screaming- NO.

I am ready to give the Haves and the Have Nots up. If the character, Candace, is raped one more time by the psychopathic character that she grew up with. . . . . This is so disturbing on so many levels I wonder what the writer and producers are thinking of. Or are they thinking at all?

    • Tanya #2192611

Annette if you were to get involved with this type of Psychopath in real life do you not believe that rape and other crimes would not happen against you either? The reason the show is a success is because of the real life element, and if you live in fantasy land than you may be right this isn't the show for you anymore, but don't look to Tyler Perry and other producers to change to suite you, there are many other people who would rather watch drama and crime on "tv" than to experience it in real life.

Thanks for bringing soap operas/melodrama back to TV. I miss shows like One Life to Live and Dynasty, etc.

I been watching HAHN from the very beginning, love the show. I agree with Kyla, please let Wyatt live, let him have a very faint pulse by the time the EMTs arrive, plz don't put the Cryers through the death of a child again, thanks I'll be watching

I have to disagree w/you...Wyatt should be dead w/all the cocaine he went through! It would be hypocritical if he WEREN'T dead! The Cryers will now sue the D.A. for giving him that $$$! Glad that David beat the c*** out of Jim, but NOT b/c of Veronica! I think he's a fool to keep hoping she'll change...she won't! But @least Jim now knows that David is no push-over; their friendship is done!! So...who else will fall this season? first Maggie, then Wyatt, maybe Benny, all b/c of CANDACE!!! or War (although I like him). We'll see.

    • Dawn Kansas #2192291

I think Wyatt should live, but he needs a good reality check because he is a spoil pain in the b***

    • Linda Georgia #2192312

That is NOT Wyatt who seemingly overdosed!

    • lorraine #2192468

Of course it is! Who do YOU think it is? It's HIS room, HIS cocaine; everyone ran out on him, as usual. That girl kept telling him that he was overdoing it...he just didn't listen!

    • Glenna Tulsa, Oklahoma #2193419

Totally agree ! The DA will turn the body over & surprise it WONT BE WYATT! They won't let them lose another child , besides his character has too many things to still do. Loving it but it is dragging a bit . Step it up Tyler , don't make us watch a month of shows to see its not Wyatt . It's taking way to long for everything . Just step it up. Otherwise it's a great show but it does take way to long to find out things. Worse than the day time soaps :(

I like this show a lot. The cast is talented and I like that it is set in small town Savannah. My favorite character s are Hannah and Bennie. I also appreciate how Tyler Perry portrays Hannah as a woman of real faith.....her Christianity is not demeaned as on so many other shows. I hope the show isn't ending because the cast seems to be being bumped off tonight.

    • calvin Connecticut #2192162

Wow, Hannah with FAITH? A woman who swears, tells David she hates him. So she throws a few words from the Bible and she has Faith. Wow, Her character is no better than the ones who so called don't have faith.

    • Sandy Piedmont Triad, NC #2192583

Hannah DOES have faith- and she displays it humanly as do most of us Christians. Who among us is perfect? Who among us does not sin in thought, word, or deed? That doesn't mean we don't believe in the saving grace and eternal life given by Jesus' death and resurrection! We have to fight through every day just like everyone else. The difference is we have Christ to lean on and run back to when we break down and when we feel hate in our hearts and don't want to. Hannah's character is so flawed and vulnerable yet strong... easily the best written and best portrayed character on the show.

Thank you so much Sandy! I could not have said it any better!

    • Ceecee DELAWARE #2193403

You're so right.....I agree with you Sandy.

    • April Alexander Haves and have nots #2193437

A Christian is not perfect Calvin. We can't be Jesus!! We believe when we fall short we ask f or forgiveness. Life is filled with so much pain and it's a struggle

  • anna

I wish the have nots who can't afford cable could watch this show

    • Arlene Lee #2192139

      Me too.

    • Nichole California #2192211

You don't have to have only cable to watch HAHN, you just need to spend a small amount one time for an android tv box or a jailbroken firestick and you can watch it and more for free. Cut cable, its a rip off
