Description:

From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SOAP! A welcome change from the crappy Soaps on daytime television. My only question is: When are we going to see Vanessa Harrington's Mom (played by none other than DIANNAH CARROL) show up and wreck havoc in Savannah? Surely Vanessa's Mom can fill us in on what's going on with her daughter and who better to play that role but Ms. Carrol! I can totally see Ms. Carrol going up against Jim & Katherine Cryer - can't you? How about a cameo appearance by The Lady Chablis (for a little comedy)? KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK TYLER PERRY- LOVE YOU!

I have promoted this series since it first aired. Love the characters and the story line is awesome. Seems like episodes and seasons are never long enough. Would love to see a couple of episodes with Madea. Think that could ever happen? Would love to see Madea and Veronica throw down. Maybe she could be the cousin of or aunt of Melissa's mom or dad.

Good afternoon Tyler, I pray that you'll receive my words with the humility in which I share them and that you'll hopefully give ear to some of my concerns. I have supported you, your plays, movies and television programs for a very long time. I'm a huge Madea fan. I also always was blessed by your openness of your Christian faith and that God is the One who blesses and favors you to do what you do. I agree and feel the same as a child of God as well. I remember many years ago when you said, and I'm paraphrashing -- that as a Christian (a child of God), you would always have a theme message of redemption in all that you wrote to lead people back to God. You made it clear that you were clear on where your blessings and abilities and the favor came from - the Lord. I am concerned by what I'm seeing on the Haves and the Haves Not with last Thursday's program and last nights. It's borderline soft-porn. I'm 49 years old and I know the difference. I'm concerned at the content becoming so trashy and incorporating behaviors that we know are not in line with God's Word no matter what the world says about God, the bible is clear. We should love all people but we're also to live in the world not be of the world. I'm trying to reconcile to myself and to those I know who used to watch your program and now are not, how you come to terms with what you have showed last week and this week and the direction your program that you write, is going verses what the Word says? It is for the entertainment of others at the displeasure of God? I respect and love you as my brother in Christ but I can no longer support this program and the trashy direction it has taken toward soft-porn. I'm not a saint nor am I perfect by any stretch which is why I need the Lord as I do, but I know when the Holy Spirit is telling me to turn away from something. I was just saddened that it's something you have written when your words and programs and plays have always blessed me. I pray God's blessings on you Tyler and that you'll give some consideration to my heart-sharing. It is said with love and respect fully. Thank you for taking the time to read and to consider my sharing.

i love this show. it keeps me tuning in,unlike the older network soaps. but i do have problems at times-having a literary degree-with the dialogue. i really wish that for variety's sake alone the characters would stop saying " i'm fine" or "it's fine" so much. "i'm ok" would sound much more natural. also,i about fell out of my tree when the wyatt character used the word" "salacious" recently. great word but i think "dirty" would have sufficed here and been more in character. and if katherine or SOMEBODY doesnt slap jim the next time he says "i'll handle it", then i will. lol. i realize it's rather his catch phrase like candace's "bad b***** routine ,but i do think it's over used. maybe after all that's happened with amanda and wyatt, it would come across better for the character if he started to say it-and then caught himself. perhaps saying he wasnt going to handle it anymore or that he simply couldn't. btw, poor amanda! she was a lovely girl. i'll miss her.

As I said before, Benny's going 'gangsta' this season, messing w/Veronica, the psycho cougar! I told you Hannah was gonna have a fit! This is WAR bet. her and Hannah, and when Candace finds out, Veronica better look out! I'm glad Hannah got the Cryers told about laying hands on her child, even though they don't get along! Hannah may not be working for the Cryers much longer...that little Melissa's gonna turn into a nagging, blackmailing little shrew, out to take Jeffrey and his parents for all she can get! When Wyatt gets a taste of jail, he'll change his tune; I also think that the white man will end up falling for Candace and vice versa, and if Quincy gets out again and goes after Candace, he'll use his connections to take care of him; Candace might just go to NY w/him! Maggie's gonna get her revenge on Veronica by blackmail; and I'm not sure why Celine threw her son under the bus for Jim (is she really that stupid?), but you can bet that 'interview' is gonna get out! Her son's not gonna take being disowned lying down (I don't blame him)! He may do a little blackmailing himself, like Candace did! This is gonna be one heck of a season!

No, she's not. Katheryn is Wyatt's Mother. It was mentioned after the hit and run when Jim and Katheryn were arguing that he has her blood running through his vains. She also mentioned in season 1 that she was pregnant with him when they married.

Why is this show not offered on "On Demand" with Time Warner Cable? Will it ever be?

I really enjoy the show. However, last week I thought something was overlooked when Candace went to her moms house and her brother was there- I was thinking Candace should have seen the SUV in the driveway and inquired about it and Benny would have told her it was Veronica's and who knows where that could have led. I have ideas- It would have given Candace some leverage over Veronica.

For those of us who are not able to watch on air or DVR, Why do we have to wait almost a whole week to view on our computer, iPad or phones? is there anyway the episodes can be made available sooner online?
