From prolific, writer, director, producer Tyler Perry, The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama that follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent mansion set in Savannah, Georgia.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil the family’s dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double-life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family’s status. Their son Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) is a troubled angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents’ expectations, but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryer’s maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however, her estranged daughter Candace (Tika Sumpter)—a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

Other characters in the series include the Cryer’s chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and son Wyatt’s rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Mister Perry, Still trying to get in touch with you. I guess I will try and watch "The Have and the Have Nots" downstairs in the community room where I live in the Tower building. I do not get all of the channels on my television. Right now, I am in the library at U.C.S.D. Thinking about taking some writing classes or acting classes. I am tired of art. If you will, I would like to use your picture in my coloring book. I have Michael Jackson's and Snoop Dog's on the front cover. I painted them and all but one picture of the big duck and little duck by my friend, Jean. Everything else I did. Will get the book in the mail by tomorrow. I sent one to Oprah after not hearing from you. Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to read me. Esther Lee Gift/the Unknown Writer Hope you get my mail. 2:25 pm 1/7/15

Hi i am Patty Stevens i am from the United State of America, Tampa Florida to be precise. This is a testimony i am here to share with you all regarding what happened to me after i lost my husband to a woman i called my best friend some years back. It was so hard raising two kids on your own when you don't have a stable job. My husband has always been the bread winner of our family, he was loving but all of a sudden things things changed drastically when i introduced my husband too my best friend (Courtney) i never realized i was casting my own downfall. My husband cheated on me and moved in with my best friend, i loved him so much and i never wanted to be a separated mom, because i want the best for my kids. My kids became so persistent that they are always asking about there dad after 4 years of us been separated, so i explained things to a friend of mine Latoya, she advised me on what to do if i really wanted to get my Ex-husband back. She told me about a Woman she knew in the Western Part Of Africa named Great Olokun, that she is a great herbalist who is well renowned in Africa for her mysterious works. She gave her testimony too me and i never believed in black powers, but Latoya was so persistent that i tried it if i really wanted my Ex-husband back, of course i do and my kids was the main reason i gave into it, i asked Latoya about contacting the Great olokun, and she gave me her email and phone contact: ().. I contacted her with faith, told her my problems and what i wanted she gave me a list of what too provide immediately, i did so and she told me in a week time my husband will come back asking me to forgive him, i doubted and in a week and two days my Ex-husband came asking for forgiveness. CONTACT THE GREAT OLOKUN NOW VIA (( YOU NEED ANY FORM OF HELP..

After much anticipation and lots of promotion on OWN last night's season premiere was a true disappointment. It reminds me of the old B*** and Switch routine, and honestly, I think it was disrespectful to the audience. I understand the concept of stringing folks (in this case your viewers) along - but I think if you want to retain your viewing audience you have some responsibility to move the storyline forward. Last night's show was a lateral move with little of importance taking place other than David setting himself up to be caught and demolished by Veronica. Very disappointing and I am not sure I will give them another chance if the shooter is not revealed in the next episode,

I agree the entire episode was irrelevant, nothing signifcant occured. Never been a big Tyler perry fan because of his redundant role of characters. None the less I really enjoyed watching HAHN. Dosent take a rocket science to know that we were anticipating the shooters idenity. Come on man, get it together. He best go back and reedit if hes concerned about his fan base. I agree with u wholeheartedly and look foward to your assessment of the next episode. Smh..,,

Sad thing is, he takes a weekend trip to the Bahamas or somewhere and writes the whole season in one afternoon! He comes back and tapes the whole season in two afternoons and then puts the garbage on the air for us. So this whole season has already been taped and we complain until we are blue in the face....there wont be any changes until NEXT seaon....by then there will be no viewers!

Bummer!!!! I missed the show. DVR mishap. Wish they would would re-air the season premiere on 1/6/15 again before the next episode like they did the last season. Keeping my fingers crossed. WHO GOT SHOT!

  • John MIAMI

The only reason tyler did this was because his viewing audience is African American and he just wanted to treat us like low down uneducated people.

I simply love this show and TP, but was a bit disappointed last night because we still don't know who was shot after months of waiting! i hope amanda shot herself because she is the worse actress on earth! "eenie, meenie", my foot! she makes me want to shoot myself! what i want to know is, what is the name of the song that was playing at the beginning of the party scene while Hannah and David were flirting? Love the song!

I was also disappointed with last night's show. Did crazy Amanda shoot herself? her mother? Why was Jim in Kathryn's bed? They never sleep together. And why did Hanna invite the little girl's grandfather to the party. His grand daughter died, what did he have to celebrate about. I was glad, David finally got it on with that woman and glad to see that rotten Veronica will catch them. I can't wait to see that.

Now what really happened last night? I expected to see the police, ambulance, and a bunch of hollering and screaming at the Criers because someone is supposed to be dead. What is the deal with Hanna and Benny? Benny acts more like a husband than a son. Anyways, how can Benny get out of the hospital, recover so quickly, becomes so hard; shouldn't he be thanking God that he is still alive. Last night should have been what everybody has been really waiting on- where the heck is Amanda and Kathryn-that is where we left off. I hope by the next episode Jeffery is not g** anymore because his part is being stretched too far. Also, if Jeffery is not gay, then why keep making him play the part of a g** person. Well, I could go on and on, but I just hope the next episode is a blast so that I can keep watching.

VERY DISSAPPOINTED, it does not make any sense that you would not let us know who was shot in the first episode, after the long wait. I am done, will not continue to watch. It is also becoming unrealistic, if I had to use one word it would be, stupid.

NO substance ~ NO adventure ~ NO NO NO ~ nothing you promised. I wished I had not stayed up to watch and just recorded the show. Love last season but last nigh was not what you promised....will just watch the next day and hope for something better.

I never watched the first episode (Never heard of it before) but last night while browsing thru the channels I stumbled upon it. Lo and behold, I was hooked, but not for the right reason. I couldnt believe how pooly written and d*** this show was. first of all, the scene where this girl invited the guy to her house, then he goes in to her fathers's office and after a few minutes started throwing punches at her dad. Everyone in the living room went to the father's study after the father had a busted eye and lip. what is this movie all about? FATHER HELP ME SO I WILL NOT FIND MYSELF WATCHING ONE MORE INCH OF THIS NONESENSE. :) AMEN.
