Description:

Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor, the new situation comedy by writer and director Tyler Perry is a wonderfully fresh show about a middle class family, and their daily joys, struggles, triumphs, and fumbles. Hattie Mae Love (Patrice Lovely) lives in the simple home that she and one of her husbands bought some time ago. Linda (Kendra C. Johnson) her daughter, splits her time between Hattie’s home and the apartment she sometimes shares with her on-again off-again husband, Lionel. Danny (Andre Hall), Linda’s son, is his mother’s pride and joy. He is young, handsome, smart, and looking for a job. After graduating from college, Danny finds himself on his grandmother Hattie Mae’s sofa. Floyd (Palmer Williams, Jr.), the uncle, through his late brother’s marriage to Hattie Mae, is an ever-present thorn in the family’s side. Like old luggage, they can never seem to get rid of him.

In the first season of this comic tale, Hattie Mae has had enough of grown people living in her house. She puts her foot down and shows the toughest love there is by sending Linda and Danny to the door. Danny moves in with his friend Sam, and Linda eventually helps out down at Hattie Mae’s Love Train Diner.

The Love Train is an old locomotive car converted to a diner that serves up all of Hattie Mae’s old recipes. It is the neighborhood hang out spot that, along with great food, serves up a whole lot of fun. As Linda and Floyd commit to help Hattie Mae with the family business, blessings abound. Soon the customers multiply, and so do the laughs, the drama, and the love of a very comical family.

With the help of Danny’s new roommate Sam (Jonathan Chase), Danny soon lands a job at an internet design firm. Danny proves to be a star there. However living and working with Sam, a 30-year-old who is trapped in his teens, will prove to be more of a nightmare than Danny could ever imagine. As the parties get wilder, the women get crazier, and Danny’s young life becomes a humorous tale of dodging fanatical friends, and eccentric family members.

Nevertheless, Danny begins to excel at his new position when the Chicago office sends the beautiful Marianna to take over as boss of the Atlanta office. Marianna quickly falls in love with Danny’s work ethic and virtuous character. As a close knit team and family, the young twenty & thirty something’s embark on a number of adventures that go along with being young professionals in a contemporary & technical society.

All in all, Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor is a collection of stories that warm the heart, provoke thought, and always serves up a heap of laughs. Through all the changes, there is one constant, and that is the universal language called Love. It’s all about love.

But let's not sleep on Hattie Mae's supporting cast- Floyd, Linda, Danny, Drew and Sam- they are all very talented and funny- adding there own special flavor! They're the glue - the crackle that makes the show - Snap, Crackle and Pop ! ;)

I love the show! When I need a pick me up and laugh - it's my "GO TO !" ;) I adore the character Hattie- I truly think Patrice Lovely is a creative comic "Genius". All the characters are lovable, but I do agree with the person who commented on the character Danny acting a little bit more grown up. Yet, I respect the writers creative license to take Danny on their "own creative" journey- not mine ;) I also appreciate the character "Phillip" aka "Flip"- b/c he shows how important a strong, supportive, kind and loving MAN (not to mention "chocolatee delicious man";) - is to a relationship, family and society. My choice of the funniest episode was "Hattie Mae gets Reinforcements" w/ Madea- Me and my husband laughed so hard we BOTH had to use the inhaler so we wouldn't get an asthma attack- But All in all- I love the show and looking forward to many years of riding on Hattie Mae's Love Train !!! :)

I don't understand why you would support or even promote a show that makes black people look stupid. They aren't stupid, of course, so why present them that way. I find it insulting and anyone invovolved with that show should really think about that. You should be proud of these people, not make them look and sound like idiots.

Evidently these are people who work for the show who like this show. I have tried to really see if I am missing something. Each time I just can't see the humor. Very stupid and the laugh tracks are just unreal and I mean that literally. A waste of talent!!! And please Tony Grant must be GAY!!!

I disagreed about the Tony Grant being gay. He is just a nice guy; who treats females the way they should be treated.

Listen, Tyler doesn't make black people look stupid. There are 3 different types of black people, especially black people. There are black people that take the time to do something with there lives. There are other Black people that are thugs or "pole people" (like Madea) or thugs. That just lie around not doing anything with there lives. Lastly, there are the black people that want to make money, and get real jobs, but can't. Like Hannah. It's not her fault she's a maid, and there isn't a problem with those types of people. Tyler helps every single one of them, and talks about all. Great shows "Haves and the Have Nots" and "Love thy Neighbor."

I agree with Gwen this is a great show and he is not making them look like they are stupid, because I don't think any of them fall under/act like they are lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind or dull. so maybe you should rethink your statement about them being stupid and that goes for any of you others that say he's making them look that way. this is a comedy show in which a (character or characters) central motif is the triumph over adverse circumstances resulting in a happy conclusion. And that is just what they do!!...Much Love to Ya

It would be so cool if Sam proposed to Drew and she accepted, and then Danny started getting jealous and tried to win Drew back, but it was too lat

Please have Tony Grant on camera as much as possible. That man is gorgeous. Secondly, Tyler, you need to have those beautiful l*** insured by Lloyd's of London. Your heart-shaped l*** are mere perfection.

Love thy neighbor is hilarious. Thank you so much, Mr. Perry for the double episodes. This show is my favorite sitcom. I like how you basis episodes on current issues that and African American woman in her forties have to deal with.

I would also love to see Danny and Drew together. You can make them into a cute and funny couple.

I love watching Love Thy Neighbor. It's my favorite of all your shows; however, I don't like how you've made the character Danny . Every new episode you make him more d*** and acting like a three year old. I did not like how you made him act in the episode "Ronald and Maggie". It really bugged me to see a 20 something acting like a three year old when they believe girls have cooties. I really like this show so please please have Linda's son Danny start acting like an adult again like when the series first started. I never ever write on message boards but this time I just had to because it really bugged me.
