Description:

Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor, the new situation comedy by writer and director Tyler Perry is a wonderfully fresh show about a middle class family, and their daily joys, struggles, triumphs, and fumbles. Hattie Mae Love (Patrice Lovely) lives in the simple home that she and one of her husbands bought some time ago. Linda (Kendra C. Johnson) her daughter, splits her time between Hattie’s home and the apartment she sometimes shares with her on-again off-again husband, Lionel. Danny (Andre Hall), Linda’s son, is his mother’s pride and joy. He is young, handsome, smart, and looking for a job. After graduating from college, Danny finds himself on his grandmother Hattie Mae’s sofa. Floyd (Palmer Williams, Jr.), the uncle, through his late brother’s marriage to Hattie Mae, is an ever-present thorn in the family’s side. Like old luggage, they can never seem to get rid of him.

In the first season of this comic tale, Hattie Mae has had enough of grown people living in her house. She puts her foot down and shows the toughest love there is by sending Linda and Danny to the door. Danny moves in with his friend Sam, and Linda eventually helps out down at Hattie Mae’s Love Train Diner.

The Love Train is an old locomotive car converted to a diner that serves up all of Hattie Mae’s old recipes. It is the neighborhood hang out spot that, along with great food, serves up a whole lot of fun. As Linda and Floyd commit to help Hattie Mae with the family business, blessings abound. Soon the customers multiply, and so do the laughs, the drama, and the love of a very comical family.

With the help of Danny’s new roommate Sam (Jonathan Chase), Danny soon lands a job at an internet design firm. Danny proves to be a star there. However living and working with Sam, a 30-year-old who is trapped in his teens, will prove to be more of a nightmare than Danny could ever imagine. As the parties get wilder, the women get crazier, and Danny’s young life becomes a humorous tale of dodging fanatical friends, and eccentric family members.

Nevertheless, Danny begins to excel at his new position when the Chicago office sends the beautiful Marianna to take over as boss of the Atlanta office. Marianna quickly falls in love with Danny’s work ethic and virtuous character. As a close knit team and family, the young twenty & thirty something’s embark on a number of adventures that go along with being young professionals in a contemporary & technical society.

All in all, Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor is a collection of stories that warm the heart, provoke thought, and always serves up a heap of laughs. Through all the changes, there is one constant, and that is the universal language called Love. It’s all about love.

This comment is for Love thy Neighbor. I for one think Miss Hattie is a little over the top and exaggerated, but she is still hilarious! Her brother Floyd is good as well as Danny. But, the character Sam? Why oh why is he trying to act like Jim Carrey??? It is not funny at all and basically it's just annoying! Find your own voice. There is only one Jim Carrey. Tyler, I don't know if it's your writing, or the characters/actors but something is just off. It's almost like the show has a split personality - with some of the actors showing up for one show and the rest are confused, thinking they are in a stage play and it just doesn't work. The majority of the cast, Danny, Hattie (on occasion), Linda, Philip and even Will (ugh) seem to be serious, talented actors. Tyler, I love what you do and I am thankful for OWN and Oprah, I just wish the representation of a black sitcom just wasn't so... I don't even have the words... it seems to be bordering on being really good, but something is missing. I will continue to watch and hopefully my critique will be taken with love, support and encouragement. Be Blessed!

I agree with your comments. I love most of the characters except Drew and Sam. They are terrible...and annoying. As with many of your other sitcoms, there is too much dialog that makes each segment sluggish and boring. But I am a diehard Tyler fan and will continue to watch all of your shows. My comments aside, overall I love what you do. Keep it up.

I enjoy watching " Love Thy Neighbor". Can't wait for Wednesday Night to watch the show. But, why most there be 8 to 10 commercials between each segment? I realize the actors and every one must get paid. But ,could you make the segment longer or cut back on some of the commercials. Thanks, A Loyal Fan

I love this show. There is just one thing bothering me. Why has Linda not cashed that so called check that Will gave her. Why haven't we heard anymore about Carol. The lady that only Will knew. By the way I'm on Phillip's team.

Mrs. Hattie made Linda cash the check that day and it cleared I would love to hear the answer to what happened when Will went to bank and ask for the footage of the lady cashing the check and oh yeah, can't he see what her name was on the back of the check she cashed. I just want to know what is going to become of that situation with the money.

I dont understand how African American males and females do not find this show insulting. God, it's so LAME! I've given it many opportunities because I am a Tyler Perry fan, but...damn....it's like 70's lame sitcoms. Disappointed!...

Maybe all three will appear in a couple of episodes next season. Hopefully, they will all ride down on Will.

I absolutely love the kissing scene. I record the series so I can watch that scene over and over. It reminds me of the courtship between my loving husband of 18+ years and I. I am definitely on "Team Phillip"!!!
